Makes Cleaning the Bathroom a Breeze
I'm an OXO fanatic; if they make a product that I need, or just really want, I'm likely to buy their version even if it costs more. Over the last few to several years, I've had more than enough solid experiences with this company to trust that their products will be worth the investment. This tub and tile scrubber is no exception. I hate cleaning the bathtub because I am getting old. Leaning way the heck over to scrub the far side? Well, that sucks. Trying to squat with bad knees in order to get into those corners, where all the gross stuff builds up? Not even a little bit of fun. Wondering if my wife will notice that I didn't clean behind the toilet because getting back there with a rag is about as likely as me becoming a Vine reviewer? Yeah, she notices. For awhile, I tried just standing in the tub while I cleaned, but that worked only on the shower-wall parts. The tub edges were still down oh so very low, mocking me and my not-so-youthful body as I tried to remove the soap scum. So I searched for something that would make my life easier and found this. Basically, this tub and tile scrubber is an extendable cleaning wand with fancy scrubby pads. I bought two types of refills: the spongy one and the brushy one. (Yes, those are technical terms.) However, this scrubber came with one sponge-style head, so I was set to go right out of the box even without the extras I'd added to my order. Just twist the scrubber to unlock, adjust the length (you can go from 26 to 42 inches) and twist back to lock. There. You're ready to scrub things. It's really that simple. After letting my powdered Comet soak for awhile, I did a little light scrubbing and obliterated the built-up soap scum that I'd neglected for months. The scrubber heads/pads are shaped like elongated home plates (yay for baseball references), so it's easy to find an angle of attack that gets right into those stupid nooks and crannies. Plus, the head pivots, making it even easier for me to get into those stupid corners that always seem to collect crud. So, for your home-cleaning needs, this is the perfect tool for anybody who doesn't want to bend or reach a lot. The scrubber is easy to hold, collapses down to the point where I can easily store it underneath the bathroom sink, and stands up to a decent amount of pressure. Plus, this isn't just for the bathtub. I can get that ridiculous space behind the toilet, which is finally free of dust bunnies thanks to OXO. Would I really lean in while scrubbing with this product? No. This is for the average home and its average cleaning needs. As for replacement brushes/sponges: they're fairly cheap at the time of this writing--about six for the scrubber/sponge and ten for the brush--so I'm okay with the recurring cost. Both types of heads hold up well anyway; I've seen almost no sign of wear on the spongy type even though I've used it almost exclusively since the product showed up on my doorstep.

SO much better than a handheld brush!
I'm so glad I bought this! I usually hate cleaning the tub. It involves back pain, getting wet, getting chemicals all over me, etc. This product effectively eliminates those unpleasant factors. The pole on this extendable scrubber is a good length and minimizes the amount of time I spend bent over scrubbing at awkward angles. It also eliminates the need for me to get into the tub to clean it. I can reach every part of the walls and floor with ease from outside of the tub, which means I stay dry for the most part. The shape of the scrubbing pad is also really well-designed for those awkward triangular corner shelves that I hate. I saw another review that basically said YMMV based on how frequently you clean your tub. That made me a little nervous, as certain aspects of my tub have gone without a good scrubbing for several months. Finally, I couldn't bear the orange-ish stains and soap scum buildup on the shelves anymore, so I looked for a fast and convenient way to clean my tub. I chose this product, but I coupled it with a really powerful tub cleaner that I also found on Amazon (Bath Clean - it's purple), let that soak for a good twenty minutes, and then went at it with this brush. The problem spots were sooooo so easy to clean. Vigorous scrubbing was not required. So if you're worried about using this brush on a very filthy tub, just invest in a good cleaning agent while you're at it, and you should be okay! My only wish is that this scrubber had some sort of mechanism that locks the pad into position. It moves to accommodate any angle, which is what it should do, but when I'm scrubbing particularly hard at a weird angle, it just constantly wants to flip around on me, and that can be really annoying. Overall, I would highly recommend. This really beats all those years I spent scrubbing with a handheld brush. I might actually clean my tub on a weekly basis now.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
Definitely a worthwhile investment, easy to dismantle and store after drying. I purchased this for the intent of cleaning my garden style tub and shower walls as they were starting to look a bit discolored. The bathroom doesn't get very good ventilation leading to some mildew-esque looking stuff on the grout of the shower. With two people regularly using a shower, tubs typically get a bit gray where the feet go, add soap scum and well, a short person with a deep garden tub don't mix too well. This has an extendable arm useful enough for someone to use without having to overstretch, regardless if you're vertically challenged or not. I paired it with CLR to clean the shower without any problems, scrubber worked better than I thought it would with minimal effort. The scrub pad is removable, meaning once you've worn it down you can replace it without having to purchase a new tool + pad for maintenance of your tub. This feature is fairly rare on most of these tub scrubbers charging such inflated prices. Therefore, if you're looking for function and ability to reuse, consider the OXO Good Grips Extendable Tub/Tile Scrubber. You'll get your money's worth. Do keep in mind not to let the orange pad sit on a surface to dry as it has the potential to slightly discolor a surface underneath it when left for prolonged periods (I left mine for two weeks and it baaaaarely discolored the surface, easy to clean with a little bleach). Turn the scrubber upside down and balance on the edge of the tub against the tile wall. Works handily that way to dry out then store.

it actually DOES lock into place after extending - here's how
just got this, haven't even tried cleaning with it yet, and i'm already knocking off a couple stars for this badly engineered thing - like a lot of other reviewers, i initially couldn't get this thing to lock into place after extending, i would extend, twist and twist, nothing happened (the first time i got it working was like finding gold). here's how i'm able to do it now CONSISTENTLY (because that's key - in the heat of the moment of fighting the dreaded mildew, who wants to interrupt being in the zone to spend hours twisting this thing): 1. collapse it, handle goes all the way down towards the head until you can't go any further 2. hold the head/front pole (the end where the scrubber is), twist the bottom pole to the right, like you're using a screwdriver to screw in a screw, tighten it until it doesn't go any further and you can't extend the bottom pole (don't go nuts though - not so tight that you won't be able to untwist it). 3. while still holding onto the scrubber side of the pole, now UN-twist the bottom pole, BUT ONLY A LITTLE - maybe one or two rotations - just enough to start extending the bottom pole, while STILL FEELING some resistance/friction/tightness/rubbing against the poles while extending. 4. extend the pole to your desired length (you don't even need extend all the way) and lock it into place by twisting the bottom pole towards the right again. i'm convinced that there's some kind of shaft inside that needs to be pulled with the bottom pole when extending - if you extend it and you don't catch that internal piece with it, you're screwing nothing and it will never catch (i could be extremely wrong though - don't @ me on twitter). if you still don't get it - watch the nice lady on the oxo instructional video - notice how she starts with it collapsed, then only does a very small twist to unlock, extend, and twist to lock again. shame on oxo for making this difficult though, it's not very intuitive at all. an external button/catch/spring whatever would be so much better. let's hope it scrubs well, if not, i'll be back to knock off more stars :)

Costly product..
Costly..there are cheaper and better alternatives. Also, once the detachable scrub gets worn out, you'll have to go back to them again.
