the best tin opener in a way you never thought possible
This can opener has to be the best ever made. It's quite an amazing action, it almost seems like it doesn't and can't work, there are no sharp edges and just a wire loop and gripping edge on the top that you clamp to the tin. What happens is that it seems to some how split the soldered seam that joins the lid to the tin body. This is a real surprise the first time you use it, after turning the handle a few times, which is very light action and easy for old and those with weak or damaged hands, there appears to be no result, except you simply lift the lid off. No sharp edges and it has the original lip on it so that it fits back to the can like a cap.Ignore the price of this can opener, it obviously is so different and better than any you have tried before, being German it feels like it is beautifully made and built to last.Hard to recommend this highly enough.

AMAZING! - Best Ever Can Opener
I have to confess I've never had the urge to write an Amazon review, even though I consider myself to be a pretty good customer of theirs. I've bought high end, hi-tech products here at Amazon and have been very happy with them, so it seems strange to me that here I am writing a review for a "can opener".Most can openers cut into either the top of the tin or into the side of the tin, leaving a sharp edge either on the lid or on the tin itself. The Sieger-Bravo Can Opener however, actually cuts along the seal between the tin and its lid, separating the two pieces without cutting into either of them. The result... NO SHARP EDGES ANYWHERE!Another nice feature is that because of the unique way the tin is opened, the lid can be put back on the tin - Handy if you only want to use half of the contents and put the rest in the fridge for later. All in all, this is a great product that does exactly what you expect from a can opener, and it does it "very well", first time every time.Highly recommended!

Brilliant!
I was a bit disappointed that it's made of what feels like very lightweight plastic as but it opens tins brilliantly and it's nice not to keep cutting my hands when washing out cans for the recycling box!

BRILLIANT
Expensive for a can opener but it really does what it says it will. Cut's tin lids off cleanly and without sharp edges. The lids can be fixed back in place (not sure why one would want too but it can be done!). Seems very well made, not too heavy and very easy to turn the handle which is of a good size so perhaps those with some finger restriction would be able to use as well.UPDATE : 20th May 2014Still works really well despite being used at least every other day not a moments trouble.

This item is NOT Made in Germany, the manufacturer has confirmed
Westmark confirmed to me that this product is NOT Made in Germany so I returned it. I notified Amazon on 2 occasions that this listing is inaccurate and Westmark said that they would attempt to contact the seller about this too yet over a fortnight later the listing still states "Safety Can Opener "Sieger-Bravo" (Leaves no sharp edges!) - MADE IN GERMANYby Westmark".

An excellent product
I had an old safety tin opener which needed replacing, which had been great except it had always warped and dented flimsier tins, preventing them from opening properly. I wanted to stick with a safety opener but looked for one in particular that didn't have that problem. I balked slightly at the price (£24.95 at the time), but noticed that similar, cheaper openers often had reviews flagging up this same issue. This opener has absolutely been worth the money. It does take a bit of getting used to - my old one didn't have the semi-circle of metal to line up against the top of the tin- but it is excellent. It doesn't warped any tins, and it works just as well on rectangular tins as it does on circular. I notice some reviews comment on it feeling flimsy, but it is just light and it takes no effort to use, so it doesn't feel that any part of it is being 'stressed'. As long as my mother never finds out I spent nearly £25 on a tin opener, I'm happy!

Super Safety can opener
Fab if you don't want to cut your fingers. However, when opening tuna and other items that need draining, the way it opens the can stops you using the lid to aid draining. Also, until you get used to it, fitting the unit on top of the can is a bit fiddly.5 stars otherwise
