A good project for a young person.
Before I start this review, I would like to say that the seller offered to take back the flute and I said no. This is a project that I was working on with my son. When I first received the flute, it was sanded but it was still rough. My son and I made sure that there was no splintering and that everything was smooth. I contacted the seller when I received the flute to let the seller know that it was not correct in terms of pitch. The flute was also very breathy which was bothering me. I have several other native American flutes and they are different compared to this one. The mouthpiece is different on the first chamber than I am accustomed to but that was not a problem. The block is very simple and the leather wrapping on the block is of good quality. When we were sanding down the flute, we noticed that the block was uneven on the bottom as it sat on the body of the flute. We managed to even it out and that breathy sound that bothered me disappeared. Once we had it ready to finish, we used a combination of orange oil as a thinner and tung oil to seal the wood. It is still curing but I managed to play on it for a little bit and it sounds pretty good with the exception of the low A being sharp. It is hard to use other fingerings because of that. It really doesn’t matter because it was something inexpensive that I could do with my son. When I want to play the correct loan note, I touch the tip of the flute against my knee to cover some of the hole and voilà, I get the correct note. LOL It is good to know that they stand behind their product. I don’t think that I would buy another unfinished flute, but I might consider purchasing a finished flute in a different key. The flute has a very warm sound.Meegwetch

Got what I paid for.
I was wanting a small inexpensive Native American flute as my first one. After many hours of research, I chose this one. I can't say for sure because of the lack of my experience, but I can tell you I was disappointed when my "flute" arrived. The enclosed "instructions" described it as a "Native American STYLE flute", not at all mentioned in the description. I guess I bought a cheap whistle. Shame on me for being cheap. I am still going to make the best of it, and try to learn!

Giant crack in the wood.
Arrived cracked up the bottom front of the flute and had a big gouge on the back side at the top. Very disappointed, I really wanted to get started playing today.
