As I have already, and that you can see by the picture, it works best on flat land where the water will not drain off of it. The dark green grass in the picture is this product. Before I laid down the mat of grass, 1st I put down Miracle Grow dirt, and Natural Fertilizer, that will not burn the grass if left on the ground without being watered. Then, I laid the Grotrax on top, and staked it down, so the wind will not blow it away. Then I put more Natural Fertilizer on top, and watered it 2 to 3 times a day, when it didn't rain. Didn't work as well on the hills, because the slope of the hill made the water run off. Grass seeds need lots of water.

This product looked like it was going to be great. But once I laid it down in just one area of my yard, it did not work like it advertised. All the pieces kept blowing away, I would have to constantly go outside and place them down again, continue to water them so they wouldn’t blow away. It is more than a hassle than anything. No grass ever started growing, so we had to purchase loom and more grass seed. Waste of money.

Was easy to put down but still waiting on grass to sprout. We have had so much rain and cold, I'm afraid I installed it at wrong time of year.

Our yard had some bald spots due to a drought. After two failed attempts trying to grow two different types of grass, I looked for an alternative that wasn’t sod.I bought one package of Grotrax to start and installed it on a 2X3 spot in my back yard. Within 5 days, we had noticeable growth and within 8 days, it really took off. As of today, it’s been 3 weeks and it continues to grow well, though the package says full results in 5 weeks.When I saw how good the results were on day 8, I ordered more. I have installed that one a 6x4 patch on the side of my house and it is growing quite well too.I’m not sure why others have had issues. My guess would be improper installation or overwatering. You must install this on soil that is completely bare - no grass, no weeds, loose damp dirt. You must also water it GENTLY twice a day. It is better to water it with an oscillating sprinkler, not set to maximum, for 5-10 minutes. The material absorbs and holds water, but overwatering will make it bubble up and tear and then, no grass.I recommend buying one roll and trying it out before making a large investment. Perhaps geography and type of seed factor into success. I live in the Deep South so our weather is very hot and sunny and the variety I purchased was a Bermuda/Rye mixture.Also, watch the installation video!

I bought this to get some grass started in an area that was previously a flower bed because I want to modify the shape. I'm using it a bit more than for patching. I found it really convenient though, it's pretty much like a toilet paper roll of grass, including the perforated sections. Sadly, I didn't buy enough to fill the full area, so I spaced it. I've been keeping it as moist as I can with 80s and sunshine,and it's already starting to grow in 6 days.Pretty happy with it. Wish I had bought more.

Just like it said, it’s patchy. It would not work in the complete area used. It provided patchy growth. I would not use this again.

The grass has not grown in over 4 weeks of watering. The birds have already torn up the fabric and its in pieces in my yard. This product did not work for the new mexico climate. You would need to water five times a day to keep the material attached to the ground.

I wish I had taken a before picture because you honestly would not believe the results I had with these!! They were incredibly easy to use, stayed in place during terrible south Florida summer thunderstorms, and grew a beautiful layer of grass exactly where we needed it. The only place I didn't put it is where you see the bare spot in the photo (should have ordered more). I would absolutely recommend these to anyone patching up their lawn.
