Tru-Grind Original Turning Tool Sharpener System including a Jig to Sharpen all Woodturning Tools up to 1-1/2" with Base Slide for Lathe Woodturning Tools

The jig works perfectly for sharpening all of my turning tools. Very quick to set up a chisel in the jig and give it a few passes across the wheel. The instructions were easy enough to follow for installation/assembly. The manufacturer has some helpful setup videos online as well.Everything was packaged securely. Fit and finish on the jig is good, though I would like to see an indicator of some sort for the scale that is on the sliding portion of the base. I made a small scribe line that serves that purpose just fine. I expect to be using this setup for years to come and it appears to be built for it.

Not only is this a fantastic system by itself, it also integrates into my Wolverine system. I have the Wolverine bases, and still use the Wolverine adjustable plate tool rest for many of my tools. But for the ones that require the rotating guide, I just cut the Wolverine cradle off and drilled a hole to tap in the rest for the True-Grind. It's a nice combo, as the True-Grind has a better lock and rotation than the Vari-Grind. I didn't mind cutting off the Wolverine cradle because in my small shop space where the grinder is mounted up near the wall, placing the tool handles in the regular Wolverine cradle just didn't work at all for shorter handled tools.

It's very important to take the time getting the tool perfectly parallel to your grinding wheel. If you don't you will grind more off one side than the other on rounded tools. Only complaint is the tool is not wide enough to fit a 1 1/2 inch bowl gouge. Not sure if this company makes a larger size. Hope they do.

I've found this product will make sharpening your tools easier and more exact. Takes a little time to set up for each type of tool, but well worth the effort.

Where has this been all my life? What a wonderful tool for sharpening all sorts of chisels. It’s a nicely made and well thought out tool, yet simple enough even I could do it. The day I got it, I sharpened over two dozen of my carving and turning tools in Just a couple of hours (I was so impressed with this, I started rummaging around looking for other stuff to sharpen with it).Thank you Kiwis’ for being so clever!

I thought the included instruction booklet was of poor quality. For the money the quality and instruction could both be improved on. Also and index on the slides would aid to the precision of the setting.

Easy to install works well on a 6 inch bench grinder.
