Daniele Hot Sopressata Chub

Too greasy and not very HOT at all! Sorry!!!! More spice and a little less grease and I will buy more.

Daniele makes a very plain, basic sopressata that has decent flavor, but it is far too moist and greasy to approximate a real artisan salami. It is okay put on a home made pizza or such, but it will not bring you on a sudden taste tour of old Italy. I have tried to improve its texture by unwrapping it and leaving it in the fridge (with no strong odors present) for a few weeks, and that gets the moisture and softness down a little, and improves the texture. When you consider that sopressata was originally a workman's lunch food - a piece of the salami with a hunk of bread - the extremely high price of very good salami is a bit shocking, but it is now a delicacy. This isn't it, but it's ok for what it is.
