Great addition to your mixed signal design library
This book is a great introductory text to the design of sigma delta modulators, with emphasis on ADCs. Unlike any other text out there, this one explains upfront the step-by-step procedure a designer goes through to design a sigma delta modulator, at the beginning of the book. This avoids the "why are we doing this" that often confounds the reader (me) when reading other texts on sigma delta modulators. However, this book should not be your first introduction to signal processing, linear systems or data conversion. Those concepts are introduced and equations are given, but the treatment is not very thorough. That's not a criticism: the book is only 244 pages long (including index) and the authors do point out all the subjects you need to understand. My advice? Get a copy of Johns & Martin and/or Jacob Baker's CMOS Mixed Signal Circuit Design 2nd Edition (make sure it's the second edition) and read the chapters on discrete signal processing, data conversion as you need to while reading this book. Also, another excellent early Sigma Delta reference is Brian Paul Brandt's PhD thesis/ ICL Technical report ICL91-009 from Stanford University, titled "Oversampled Analog-to-Digital Conversion". This last one is unique because it gives insight into the problems, questions and approaches taken by researchers in the early development of this technology.Sigma Delta is a wonderful combination of mixed signal design and signal processing. Have fun!

Good: There are summary tables of various implementations
Good : There are summary tables of various implementations. There are many references given. Not so good: Limited details of any topic. I expected lot more details about implementation on dithering circuits.

Practical, wide scope, but not so in-depth
I have many SDM related books written by American, so I buy this book as it is (seems to be) from Europe. Not amazing that the content layout is quite different from the others. For example, in this book, you will find some interest topics like constructing a SDM ADC by LF356 and CD4013 (bandwidth is limited to few hundred Hz as we can all expected), and some non-ADC or DAC applications of SDM techniques (presented in last chapter, which really inspire me).You may need some other books if for designing a practical SDM products, but this book is really good for students or system design engineers, due to its simplicity.
