Interesting Story lines
A little over much on the helpless woman, but overall the two stories were good and held my interest.

great Texas reading
Long, Tall Texans: Volume III: Ethan and Connal is by Diana Palmer. It is one in her series about Texas cowboys. In Ethan, Arabella Craig returns to the Hardeman Ranch near Jacobsville. Texas. This time, however, she arrives reluctantly. She and her Father were coming to Jacobsville from Corpus Christi where she had performed in a piano concert. Her Father hit the ice and wrecked the car. He was injured and sent on to Houston. Her Father had called Ethan Hardeman to make sure she had the best specialists to help her. As it is, she has broken her right hand and until it is well, she will not know if she can play the piano again or not. That was what she lived for- her music. It had taken her from Ethan four years before and now returned her to his home. Ethan had awakened sixteen year old Arabella to the wonders of love but before he has succumbed to his passion for her, he had married and she had been whisked away to play professionally. Ethan had married Miriam and then spent the next four years trying to get a divorce. When he hears that Miriam is coming to the ranch hoping for reconciliation, he asks Arabella to pretend to be his lover and fiancé to get Miriam to leave as quickly as possible. Arabella agrees knowing she still loves Ethan but that he doesn’t love her. Can they fool Miriam? Does Ethan really love Miriam and just wants a cushion to keep from getting hurt again? Will Arabella be able to play again? In Connal, four years before, CC. Tremayne appeared to work on Penelope Mathews’ Father’s ranch. In those four years, he had helped bring the ranch from almost bankruptcy to finally making a little money. Ben Mathews knew he had a good foreman in CC; but he also knew that CC drank and that was one thing he forbidden be done on the ranch. For four years, Penelope (Pepi) had mothered and cared for CC on that one day a year that he drank himself senseless. She knew the reason but CC didn’t know she knew. Her Dad didn’t know and Pepi wanted it to stay that way. She had loved CC for years and although he saw her as the boss’s pest of a daughter, she still wanted him around. This time, CC left for Mexico to drink and Pepi followed to get him. After getting him out of the bar, he persuaded her to marry him. She didn’t think it was legal so went along with it only to find that it was indeed legal and that CC had no recollection of the marriage. What would he do when he found out? Would he agree to sign the annulment papers and forget the entire thing? Pepi knew he wouldn’t want to stay married to her, or would he?Both books are good; but the first one is the better of the two. It was almost as if she ran out of steam as she wrote Connal. It was more of a cookie cutter story than the first one. Both are still great escapism to the great outdoors known as Texas.
