Great tool for the lay person too!
Like another reviewer, I have very small hands, but I liked the idea of some of the weight of the device doing the work, so I ordered the "large" size. I don't think I would even want a smaller version of this massage tool. It fits in my palm perfectly, and the weight saves my fingers. I have a disorder called Dercum's Disease, and the only thing that eases my pain is massage, but my hands and fingers just can't stand the constant strain. This device is perfect, and it is small enough to take with me when I overnight at family homes. This is an incredibly simple design and very effective with the flatter side being good for "scraping" large muscles, the two opposite fingers for deep pinpoint massage, and the edges of the flat side if a very small pinpoint massage is needed. I very much appreciate this tool.

LOVE IT
I absolutely love this thing! It feels good in the hand and keeps me from being too strong. Using the muscle stripper (wide blade edge) keeps my strokes the same pressure and feels better than hands for that kind of deep work on knots. I use it a lot on the scalenes running from the clavicle to the mastoid and jaw and patients never complain (they do complain often about my hand strength on the neck). Added bonus is reduced thumb strain. All of the AcuForce massage tools are great. If you have small hands, try the red small star.

Great product - Even better than the smaller red version
I love this for working on my upper neck muscles (suboccipitals). This XL model fits in my hand even better. And I find the "pointed" arm on the smaller version useless. This XL model replaced the point with another shape I find very useful. Great product!

Too much friction without using lotion
Too much friction against the skin. The skin bunches up. I would have to apply lotion first which I don't want to do. Better results with a store bought cheap massager using the single included node tip for a single trigger point. I also use and recommend the "tiger tail" rolling massage stick, the Brookstone (corded) percussion massager, and "Massage Track" massage balls. See my reviews on Amazon for these products.

Good Quality Massager
I like this massage tool. I actually bought it for my husband so he could use it on my back (I have a million knots). The tool has good heft to it. The only thing is it's very hard, so you have to be careful that you don't grip it too hard or else you'll hurt your hand. My husband uses this on occasion for me, but I still get a better massage when he uses his hands (and thumb) rather than this tool. Still, this tool is good for holding on trigger points so you don't wear out your fingers, thumbs, or knuckles.

Recommended by my son’s athletic trainer!
I’m obsessed with this thing. My son’s athletic trainer recommended this when he was having some muscle cramps in his legs. But, this has become my favorite tools for relieving the knots I have in my shoulder blades!

Can't live without my Massage Star
Fits well in the palm of my hand. Easy to use. Not lightweight, but not too heavy, either. I use the beveled edge side more often than the other 2 sides. Works great in the Lamina groove! Lost my first massage star during traveling. After 2 weeks of working without it, I HAD to purchase a 2nd one.

Massage tool is very easy to hold
I am a massage therapist and find that this extra large tool fit my hand easily and it has reduced hand fatigue.
