The Willow Pattern Story (A North-South Paperback)

Used with my 3rd grade art class teaching China unit. They loved the story (Chinese fable) and then drew and painted a blue willow design on a paper plate. Great resource!

This book was amazing. I bought it without expecting much, but I was blown away. My third grade students were as quiet as church mice when I was reading. They couldn't wait to hear what happened next. I am an Art Teacher and I used this book along with my art project on Chinese pottery with the blue and white patterns. Great purchase! I highly recommend it!

My mother had this pattern of china in our summer home when I was growing up. This book brought back some lovely memories.

Great and interesting story about the Willow Pattern....who knew!

This is a lovely traditional chinese story with beautiful illustrations. I plan on reading it and then drawing our own stories on paper plates. It will also be good for reference if we are ever in a museum and see chinese vases and such as we will be able to look for a story on them.I would say that the story is about love and not the classic happily ever after.

Quite dark; I thought it wouldBe nice to know the story of the pattern in our plates but actually it is very sad; especially for little ones.

Remember hearing this story once and very interested in the story behind the Willow pattern as love to know the meaning behind things like this. As a teacher hope to make great use of this book. Now I must seek a plate to go with the book hopefully form a charity shop.

Beautifully illustrated book, lovely story. A treat for any child, or any adult who's a fan of the china pattern.
