Neil Peart: Taking Center Stage Combo Pack: A Lifetime of Live Performance

I could watch it all day for days on end

Man, if you love Rush or are a drummer, you must get this. Neil, considered one of the greatest drummers in the world lays out how he prepares and the thought processes to each musical piece he does. The ultimate professional, the dedication, concentration, and practice he goes through is incredible. Reading his book Far & Wide (a must read too) you understand the person as he particularly goes through the pangs, angst, and exhilaration of getting older. Juggling the many glass balls that he has over the years, it is a joy to watch this man perform. It is over 7 hours of pure Neil drumming it up for us all to enjoy!

My boyfriend was absolutely stunned!! He loved it so much he actually cried. Being a drummer himself, Peart was his childhood idol. Gift came in mint, wrapped condition. Was better than expected. Would highly recommend!

This product I ordered as a surprise for my son who is a drummer and a huge RUSH and Neil Pert fan. The DVD and book were so helpful with pictures, written music scores (to help him learn specifics for all his favorite songs) and video which are all helping him learn and improve his technique!

This is a double-banger: there's a set of three DVDs featuring live performances and some clinics with Peart, as well as a nice book that covers his approach to drumming, as well as some scores of popular Rush works. One of the DVDs is concert footage taken during the Time Machine tour, but the cameras are only on the drums and Peart; that's 150 minutes of live drum concert video! There's also additional videos of his pre-tour rehearsals, soundchecks, and practice routines. Heck, there's everything in here you can possibly think of associated with Peart and a Rush tour!The book has scores for all the songs on the DVD, so you can follow along and then replay on your own kit to learn the basics (the slow-motion video on the DVD helps a lot in this regard). There's also a summary of all the Rush tours to date in the book, for the true fanatic. Heavily illustrated with shots of Peart's drums over his career, as well as placement diagrams, this is both a Rush fan's and a drummer's all-inclusive set.If there's a downside to the set, it's the extensiveness of it all. There's just so much here, and Peart does his best to say in 200 words what he could say in 100, but even that is interesting if you're a fan. It was great fun to watch the concert video and then, on my kit, try (ineffectively) to play as Peart does. While I will never be anywhere close to good, I did learn a lot, and thoroughly enjoyed this package.

Nach einer Fehllieferung (es kam nur das Buch obwohl das Combopack bestellt war) kam das Buch mit den 3 DVDs.Das Buch ist chronologisch aufgebaut und beschreibt die verschiedenen Touren der Band aus Sicht des Drummers.Mit einleitenden Kommentaren von Neil, Beispielliedern auf der DVD und im Buch zughörige Noten. Diese sind Transcriptionendie der Autor sehr sorgfältig angefertigt hat. Auch Ghost Notes auf der Bass Drum hat er eingefügt.Jedes der Stücke wird auf der DVD erst erklärt, dann von Neil gespielt ohne Begleitung, manche Sequenzen in Zeitlupe wiederholt und dannmit der Band gespielt. Wobei beim Abmischen die Band in den Hintergrund getreten ist.Für mich erweitert es meinen Horizont und Ideen für das Drumspiel.Grüße,Matti
