UPDATE #4
This fountain looks great! I' sooo tired of trying to clean my Drinkwell Platinum, and HATE that it doesn't shut off when the water's low. BUT... $13.00 PER FILTER???? Has anyone found them cheaper ($1 for such a small filter seems reasonable :)).UPDATE: After finding filters at a reasonable cost (4-pack for $12.99 + free shipping) at AVPPet.com, I ordered the fountain. The day after it arrived, I unpacked it, cleaned it, added water, and plugged it in. The adapter got hot, the light lit, but the pump didn't pump. I disassembled and reassembled it, and tried again, with the same results. I am returning it for a replacement; hopefully, the replacement will work, as I like the design of the fountain very much, even though it doesn't hold a lot of water (I'm guessing about 40 oz, judging by the amount of water used from my 48-oz Brita pitcher). I'm hoping it won't be any noisier than my Drinkwell Platinum; the Nature Spa looks 1000% easier to clean, and it has a much smaller footprint.UPDATE #2: WOW! My replacement came before I even got the dead one sent back. It works GREAT!!! Soooooo easy to clean, and so quiet I have to keep looking to make sure it's still working. I have 2 cats, but only one would drink out of the old Drinkwell; the other needs me to turn on the bathtub faucet :(. The one that drank from the Drinkwell looked askance at the Nature Spa, but I'm pretty sure she will use it regularly. I would be totally pleased if my "bathtub faucet" cat used it, too, especially in the middle of the night, and during the many times each winter that the water pipes in my small mountain community freeze and break and we have no water!UPDATE #3: I just realized that I had never updated the number of stars on my review. I have now had the replacement for 3 months, and it is FLAWLESS! So quiet, so easy to clean, so small. I have only one cat who uses it, and I replace the water only about once every 10 days or so. My other cat still only uses the bathtub spout :(UPDATE #4: Well, POO! My fountain has died. The motor just stopped about 3 weeks ago (the light is still on, so I know it's not a power problem). I have kept it clean, and only used filtered water, so scale build-up was not the problem. I emailed the manufacturer, since it's supposed to have a one-year warranty, but never heard anything back from them. I'm debating whether or not to order a new one, as I DID love it, but, if they only last 6 months, and the warranty is not usable, it probably doesn't make sense to to pay $48 to get another one, especially since other reviewers' fountains have also died in a very short period.

My cats love this, one likes to touch the fountain spray
My cats love this fountain; my smaller one for some reason likes to touch the fountain with her paw. Sometime when I pet her I find that the top of her head is wet…go figure!!! You can tell when it needs to be cleaned as the sound changes and the fountain’s reach is smaller. Filter or not I still have to clean the whole thing as cat hair gets on the motor screen and a film collects on the plastic tube of the fountain. To clean it I’ve used Q-Tips, bits of paper towel and napkin wrapped on skewers, toothpicks, even a plastic straw, I also found kid's size toothbrush to be helpful.

Cats enjoy it.
Works great and the cats enjoy it. They used to insist on drinking out of the bathroom sink, so I usually kept it full. I put this on the counter next to the sink and they are quite happy with it. I've had it for several months and it's still running strong. Sometimes it develops a vibration, but I just give it a little whack and it goes back to quiet running. I once came home and found it on the floor in pieces - cats must have been a bit rambunctious. The top part snapped back in place with no problem and it ran fine after re-filling it with water.

THE. BEST. PRODUCT. Ever?!
This is the single most convenient item I've ever had the pleasure to own. Our cat is particularly finicky when it comes to clean water - she just will not drink from a bowl of still water, NEEDS to have it moving and so much waste occurred during her lapping up from the kitchen and bathroom faucets. Several other pet fountains were tried and failed, either because there wasn't enough arc/flow but mainly due to the filtration system (or lack thereof). The natureSpa's UV light filters the bacteria that naturally accumulates in water and the fountain has a GREAT flow. This is actually our second unit, the first latest over a year before the motor burned out (it was plugged in 24/7). The motor is quiet, the upkeep is incredibly easy and the benefits are great: we can really leave our cat for the weekend with no fear of her going either hungry or thirsty.

Concept is great, execution is OK, pay off is terrible.
I have two dogs, one that back washes badly and the other a diva who only will drink fresh water. I felt this would be a GREAT option for them. I'd seen it on Groupon as well, but Amazon still had a better rate. I jumped in and purchased the fountain, the expanded water holder, extra filters and the foam mat. It didn't scare off the dogs after the first hour. They seemed to like it. I gave it a rinse weekly and every-other week I took it completely apart and cleaned it. Once a month I used vinegar to scrub the bottom plastic container to prevent calcium build up. Needless to say I did a pretty good job of keeping up with it. Could I have done better, sure. Here I am eight months later and the light comes on and no water is pumping out. It seems the pump burnt out. For all I invested both financially and time I would have hoped this would have lasted for longer than eight months. Now I have to find another fountain to please my furry divas.

I especially love the filter and the moving water
The product guide says it may need to be cleaned with bleach if it gets a slimy feeling, a result of living in a humid environment. My house is so dry, but I constantly have to clean it because of the slimy feeling. The maintenance is a little difficult considering how in-depth and often it needs to be done.My cat loves it, and it definitely encourages her to drink more water, so it's staying. I especially love the filter and the moving water, so I know she's always getting very clean water.

So far so good!
I don't know how long it will last since reservoir plastic is very thin and flimsy causing threads on stopper to get out of shape. They need to make them from a harder plastic. Cleaning is very challenging. Make sure you snap picture of how it's assembled otherwise it is hard to guess where the parts go back. Also, it is moderately noisy even though I have it on rubber mat. And unlike other's who claim water got hot from uv light mine did not.
