Bought this to act as background music for a set of photos taken whilst on a visit to India. provided plenty of different variations and made looking at the images a more memorable experience.

Firstly I love the diversity of this collection, there is music to really relax to, and music that will have you doing your best 'Bollywood' moves around the house! I do my best, but I'm not as agile as I once was, either way it's great exercise!Secondly the music gives a wonderful flavour of India, that as previously mentioned is great for relaxation and dancing, but can be played softly as background music at mealtimes.Thirdly this collection comprises 3 CD's so represents excellent value for the price paid.

I have bought this for my brother. I am a big fan of george harrison and so i am aware of ravi shankers influenece in his music. I do like the way george used these eastern influences in his music

ダンサーからシタール奏者に転身した理由は知る由もないが、私は彼の音楽を随分昔から聴いていた。それはビートルズのジョージハリスンが彼の弟子入りを志願したニュースがきっかけで、当時レコードを購入した記憶がある。元来、世界の民族音楽に興味があったので、今となっては彼がウッドストックに出演していたこと等が懐かしく思い出される。それにしても偶然、ファンであったノラ・ジョーンズが彼の娘である事を数年前に知って驚かされた。人によって好悪は分かれるが、民族音楽には夫々の国の文化の背景が窺われ、私たちはCDを通してそれを享受することが出来る。

This is a 3 CD release of 3 LPs from the early 60s. As a purchase, this is a bargain as it contains 3 excellent recordings for a low price. As a recording of an artist gifted with a musical genius this is a priceless must have. If you are familiar with Ravi Shankar or curious about his music I would recommend that you start here. The playing , the compositions, and the supporting musicians are at a high and supreme level.
