Hampton Nautical It Floats 12" American Floating Sailboat Hampton Nautical Model Ship, Fully Assembled (Not a Kit)

The boat was beautiful. It took me a second to figure out how to put it together, but the quality was really good!

Like some reviewers mention on Hampton Nautical model It Floats, it did arrive broken, with the steerimg oar/rudder loose and needing to be reglued. However, she ship body was solid, and the rigging not as difficult to assemble from the picture (for me) as some found it to be. Yes, the mast is loose, but the rigging holds it in place when tightened with the cute little whatever the boat term for those things on the strings is. It floated in bathtub depth, and I didn't find it to be easily capsized by moderate bathtub splashing, though I'm sure when in with a child it will be constantly underwater, but that's expected. It did list easily with a small amount of water, or when the mast is not quite straight, but it did not just sink when jostled. I don't know that the rigging will surive the water damage it's likely to take when used by a five year old for forever, but I would call it worth the 14 dollars I spent, and am over all pleased with the cute little boat in the bathtub.

Bought this to go into a small pond for decoration.This is advertised that 'It Floats'. Well it does stay on top of the water, but it DOES NOT float upright.Kind of the whole purpose here, right?Very misleading and false advertising. (oh, I'm sure I happened to get the only one with a problem)Anyway, don't be mislead by the 'It Floats' thing.Okay here's another point... It REQUIRES ASSEMBLY.All of those rigging lines have to be put together by YOU.(good luck doing that from a stupid drawing with no instructions)Also one last thing... The base that it sits on was broken.So basically, everything this product is supposed to be/do, it isn't/doesn't.

Overall it is a cute piece, unfortunately the quality not the best.The stand that came with it so you can display it on a table or shelf arrived broken and there are details that are not properly painted or sanded.I did not return it because for what I wanted it, it did the trick (to put it on a summer wreath) but if you are looking for one to add to a collection, for the price is not bad but you might have to do some touch up yourself.

Super cute! I purchased these as center pieces for my sons firth birthday. They were soo cute that i kept them and left then in his nursery. Much smaller than others purchased but still cute

The first one I ordered looked like it had been used, the sails were stained. Then I forgot to send it back. Fortunately it's expensive and the second one I ordered was new and looks nice.

I bought this for teaching a beginning sailing class to explain tacking and gybing and allow the learners to better visualize what's happening. The stand is very convenient for holding it on the desk. I like how I can move the head sail back and forth and cleat it off to demonstrate different points of sail.It's big enough that I can have 4 students around me and they can all see it, and small enough I can carry it around without it being a burden.I haven't tried floating it, so I can't review it for that.
