PRO IRON GEAR Hackamore Bitless Horse Bit English Western Adjustable Leather (Black)

I've been wanting one of these pretty baroque-looking hackamores for a while and just love it! Fit is perfect for my small-headed Arabians - you may have to poke more holes if you have a larger-headed horse (although there is still plenty of room to expand the chin strap). The leather noseband is soft and lightly padded. It gets attention; even one of the vets during our last endurance ride commented on how fancy it is.Obviously it's a pretty mild hackamore with the short shanks. If you need more whoa, you could swap the chin strap for a curb chain. Pay attention when it arrives that it is adjusted correctly - mine arrived backwards (if you look at photos of the seller's other hacks, many are backwards) but it only takes about three minutes to remove and reattach the shanks correctly.

My mellow Tenn Walker was somewhat resistant to taking a bit, and this gentle hackamore is SO nice and easy to use. I've ridden with it about 10 times now. He does great on the trails with it and is very happy. No problem stopping or guiding or sidepassing, regardless of speed (he's an older horse). Nicer quality than I expected. He has a small head, but no problem with sizing. I may get the same one for my big-headed black foxtrotter. I wasn't concerned about appearance, but now I really love the look and quality. This hackamore looks great and seems well-made, but I did not have a chance to use it because it was just far too large to use on my Arabian gelding. I had read a couple of reviews by Arabian owners who said it fit just fine on their horses but it did not fit mine, so I returned it. My horse is 14.2 HH and weighs about #1000, so probably a little on the small side, just FYI.

Very soft and supple Bitless nose band but still tough. Fairly easy to put the 4 pieces together. You can make lots of adjustments. I had to add a couple holes for my pony but could go up to draft size. Great price!
