I hesitated to purchase this as there seems to be a controversy re it's authenticity. I just got this today and having had experience with Apple cables since the very first Mac I've gotta say that if this isn't authentic I'll eat my hat. And either new or returned unopened. Brand new Apple packaging down to the tiny plastic pin cap. Apple computer cables are notoriously hateful - the connecting cable is too thin and just wears out eventually (soldered my last one) but the casing finally always starts deteriorating eventually, so 'connecting cord is flimsy' is a given. But I've tried the generic ones but dollar for dollar might as well spring for the real thing - those knckoffs were all VERY obviously not Apple, really crappy, even the more expensive ones, and all went wrong within a year This one works fine on my 2017 Air., as it should If there are problems in the future I'll edit this and eat my hat also. Dunno what's going on with this seller that some people got non-Apple packaging, and the inconsistency if true is very not cool, but there's my review, anyway. Nice to get it a little bit cheaper.

it was the correct adaptor for an Apple product. Apple no longer carried this adaptor, and actually sugested looking on Amazon.

It works . The seller should specify that the item is renewed and not first hand. For the price it is sold at it should be new and not a second hand. It does come with an extended cord though so that’s great.
