Excellent Strength for Size 9', 4X
RIO Powerflex -Plus leaders are very strong compared to other brands. The taper for these 9' leaders occurs in the first 6' leaving a good 3' bottom section of the 4X diameter. This means you can change flies many times and still have a 4X diameter. My minorcomplaint with these leaders is their tendency to retain coil memory like a slinky; therefore they'll probably need to be pulled through a line straightener several times before use.

Very dense, butt end prone to sinking
The powerflex plus is a little more dense and a little less supple than the standard powerflex. I find that this means it is more prone to sink at the butt end and you have to put in some extra effort to keep it greased / straight to ensure it floats. This is a real pain if your indicator isn’t right at the butt or you’re fishing dries. Will go with the standard powerflex in the future. Powerflex plus is great to get more strength when you buy it in a finer tippet material (6x, 7x) but I won’t be getting it in a leader again. Had to re-grease with mucilin every 20m to keep it from sinking.
