Expected more than 1 recipe for pizza dough. Pasta recipes using imported pasta and not fresh pasta.
I had higher expectations based on the other 5 star reviews, but was disappointed by the recipes. There is one pizza dough recipe (a very simple recipe using AP flour, not a high protein flour) and one pasta recipe. I found it odd that many of the pasta dishes call for “1 Pound Imported Italian <whatever pasta style was called for in the recipe>“ (Spaghetti or Penne or Pappardelle or Farfalle or Linguine), and not fresh pasta. The “Uncooked Tomato Sauce for Pizza” recipe calls for “THE SWEETEST VINE-RIPENED canned tomatoes you can find.” (using the book’s emphasis), *but* add sugar if a bit acidic (didn’t you squeeze the canned tomatoes to check their ripeness?), then drain and blend with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Hmmm... Canned tomatoes in a pizza sauce recipe from a formerly well regarded restaurant? Again, I was surprised, but maybe simplicity was the goal for all the recipes? It wasn’t what I was expecting to learn from this cookbook. Chef Ramsay will go through the roof and you’ll never make it past Round 1 of Master Chef if you try that! You’ll be better off buying pizza sauce from the refrigerated case at Trader Joe’s (which is quite good, actually). I purchased the Angeli Caffe cookbook “used” on Prime, but wish I had my $11 back after reading the recipes.

One of my all time favorite restaurants!
Angeli Cafe was one of my go to places in LA for many years! As a Westsider, it was a bit of a hike but worth every moment searching for a parking space. I worked in the restaurant business in LA for 20 years - restaurants come and go but the day Angeli Cafe shut down I cried. This Cookbook is a way to keep it alive in my own home.

Perfect Book
This copy of Angeli Cafe is my second, my first is from when it came out originally.I use this book in our country get away. This book is font of knowledge for anyone who wants to really understand the nuance of Italian food and acquire the knack of pairing foods to the seasons-something we have lost, tragically, because of the ability to purchase any food year round. This is NOT a glossy picture book ( and I do love them!) yet it is the book that use the most. The recipes are fabulous, and I feel lucky to have 2 copies…I always have my back-up!

One book...a thousand delicious meals!
I'm not technically skilled in the kitchen, but I love to eat good food. I started making the pizzas and progressed on to the pastas, etc. When my family comes to town, the first thing they want to eat is something made from a recipe in this book. The food has brought us many great meals and memories. Give this to someone as a gift of joy!
