Great classic selected manga collection, "the best manga you've never heard of'. Recommended to me by lead guitarist in Japanese band Taffy. Glad my dad's eye doesn't live in my head though.

Great book and I hope they translate more of mizuki work

While we do not like thrillers and occult horror comics and movies, Shigeru Mizuki cannot be merely classified as occult writer. He is well known in Japan as an eccentric writer, but respected. This is because he has written not only about his forte, which is occult stories, but on various subject such as martial arts, war, etc. 'Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro', roughly translated as Kitaro of Ge (pronounced as geh) is compilation of Japanese occult and ghost legends investigated by Mizuki himself, thus, it is not his fantasy, but actual study of Japanese folk tales regarding various ghosts haunt Japanese scenes. Therefore, this is not only of interest to occult readers, manga-fans, but sociologists who are interested in Japanese taboo subject. We give 4 stars because we do not love horror manga, but this is superb comic dealing with real folklore.
