Barrington Hardwoods Burled Highly Figured Walnut Pen Blanks - 3/4" x 3/4" x 6" (5 Pieces)

These were really nice pen blanks with turned into beautiful pens. Sized as advertised and well figured. Sometime when pen blanks are advertised as “well figured” many if not all are not.

I got a pack of nicely figured black walnut, and the resulting pen came out looking just fine. That said, the blanks are not square, either in relation to each side or in general, so beware of that. The piece I turned was a little fragile - I lost a chip out of it and one end looked like it wanted to crack on me, so I cut that end off. All in all, there are probably better suppliers out there, but this is decent wood at a decent price.

Good quality. 4 out of 5 had very nice figuring. 5th one was still figured but to a lesser extent. Wood was solid no flaws or cracking.

These blank are beautiful! I made some great pens with them for Christmas and they all turned out gorgeous!

I have ordered this exact walnut turning blanks twice from this vendor. The first order was absolutely stunning, with very figured grain. So, I ordered another set of turning blanks. This set is very bland with nothing spectacular about it. I could have cut up blanks out of walnut I have laying around and saved the money. The second order was not worth the money.

Every blank was the same size and the grain on (at least my batch) is really beautiful. The grain is criss cross so it looks like natural checkering. The darkness of the wood after the oil makes it look like "Tiger eye"

I needed some fancier walnut for some fountain pens, plus a steam punk and this fits the bill nicely
