FoxFarm Ocean Forest Potting Soil, 12qt (3 Pack)

FoxFarm Ocean Forest Potting Soil is hands-down one of the best soil options available for container gardening. This 12qt (Pack of 3) bundle is a fantastic deal, beating the competition in both price and quality. After thorough research and years of personal use, I can confidently say this soil delivers exceptional results every time. Here’s why: Top-Quality, Nutrient-Rich Soil: Ocean Forest is known for being "hot," meaning it's heavily amended with natural nutrients like earthworm castings, bat guano, and forest humus. This makes it ideal for plants that thrive on a rich nutrient base. It's perfect for jumpstarting growth and maintaining plant health without requiring heavy fertilization early on. Perfectly Balanced pH: One of the standout features is its pH balance, which is always spot-on for optimal nutrient uptake. This saves time and effort in managing pH levels, especially for beginners or those using sensitive plants. Light, Aerated Texture: The soil has a great texture—light and fluffy yet retains moisture effectively. This balance ensures roots can breathe while staying hydrated, leading to vigorous growth. To take it up a notch, I mix it with Happy Frog soil for even better results, as Happy Frog provides a slightly gentler nutrient base. Add Perlite for Improved Drainage: Although the soil has good aeration, I recommend adding perlite (around 10-20%) to enhance drainage, especially for plants prone to root rot. This is particularly useful if you’re growing in humid environments or using fabric pots. Bundle Deal: This 3-pack bundle is the best deal I could find—excellent value for a premium product. Given the quality and consistency of Ocean Forest, it beats out other brands in terms of both price and performance. Reusable and Sustainable: Yes, it’s expensive, but one way to offset the cost is by reusing the soil. After each grow, amend it with compost, biochar, or fresh nutrients to rejuvenate it for the next round. It’s sustainable and helps maximize your investment. Tips & Tricks for New Users: Be Aware of Its "Hot" Nature: While it’s loaded with nutrients, some young plants or seedlings might find it too rich. Consider starting seeds in Happy Frog or a seedling mix and transplanting them into Ocean Forest later. Prevent Fungus Gnats: Occasionally, I’ve noticed gnats in the soil, but this is easily treatable. Use mosquito dunks or sprinkle a thin layer of diatomaceous earth on top to keep pests at bay. Mix with Happy Frog Soil: For a balanced nutrient profile, mix Ocean Forest with Happy Frog soil in a 50/50 ratio. It’s a foolproof combination for virtually any plant. Bottom Watering: To minimize soil disturbances and pests like gnats, try bottom watering your plants using trays. Monitor Plant Needs: While Ocean Forest has plenty of nutrients, always keep an eye on your plants’ progress. Some may need additional feeding during heavy flowering or fruiting stages. Trash-Free and Reliable: Unlike other brands that sometimes include sticks, rocks, or debris, FoxFarm Ocean Forest is clean and consistent. Every bag I’ve used has been of the same high quality, which is crucial when working with premium plants. Final Thoughts: FoxFarm Ocean Forest Potting Soil is a premium product for growers of all levels. The combination of rich nutrients, perfect pH, and light texture makes it ideal for container plants of any kind. While it’s pricey, the ability to reuse it and the results it delivers make it well worth the investment. Whether you’re growing flowers, vegetables, or cannabis, this soil provides the perfect foundation for success. If you’re serious about gardening and want a soil that outperforms the rest, look no further. Just grab some perlite, consider pairing it with Happy Frog, and you’re good to go!

This soil is the BEST I've ever used! Will purchase again.

Love this product highly recommend for all my growing needs.

I’ve had great results using this potting soil. It drains well, is nutrient-rich, and my plants have done noticeably better with it.

Great stuff buy it every year mix it with other Fox farm products

This soil has been wonderful for my outdoor container edibles garden and also for seed starting indoors. It is fluffy, and I have had no issues with pests or unwanted material in the soil

Very good potting soil. The size isn't really big but there is more soil in the bags than you would think. We have use this soil to clone and it works wonderfully.

Good quality soil, holds moisture well and does not mold, however seedlings and plants that I have put into this soil have taken a long time to flower. Healthy plants, I have used it for everything from veggies to houseplants.
