Snow's Condensed Corn Chowder, 15 oz (Pack of 12)

My mom craved corn chowder, so I thought I'd give this a try. When I asked how she thought it compared to what she was craving, she explained she didn't know and that what she craved had been homemade... I made one can by mixing two halves of the condensed corn chowder into two cups, then adding one can of milk, split over both cups, to make two even portions. I was surprised what a full, complete texture this corn chowder has, especially since there is no meat in the mix (there is soy). I heated each portion individually in the microwave for 1 minute and 10 seconds each (total of 2 minutes, 20 seconds) in a 1100 watt microwave. Each cup had a vented lid attached. The second portion did seem as if it wanted to explode, but by having a tight-fitting lid with vent on top, no mess. This multiple 'pop' explosion MAY be why their directions say to stir multiple times even when heating in the microwave. I have microwave soup cups that have removable venting lids, so soup is easy for us to heat, no matter how thick and creamy the soup might be. I feel that this Snow's Corn Chowder Soup has made me a good daughter for helping satisfy my mom's craving. I've used them in the past for their clam juice, so I'm glad to find out their corn chowder is also good.

It tastes okay I guess but am really put off by this maker’s instructions to add 1 can of milk. The “chowder” isn’t anywhere near thick enough for that. I followed the instructions and it was far too thin, even using half & half which I substituted for regular milk. It came out absolutely watery, not even close to any definition of a chowder. I personally don’t like my chowder watery. Their can holds 15 oz , I wouldn’t add more milk than 3 oz. Actually after having tried it I would recommend just eating it as is, add nothing. Their main competitor with corn chowder is much thicker and they don’t recommend more than a small amount of milk be added. Just sorry I bought a whole case instead of trying one first. Will probably just eat it as is and add no liquids to this. Fortunately it does taste as good the other brands of corn chowder I’ve tried.

It's not the same as it used to be years ago. I hadn't been able to find it in my grocery store so when I came upon it on Amazon I bought three cans. Still have one left 🫤

This soup is good! You just cannot find soup like this in stores anymore. Takes me back to my childhood. I should have bought a case lol YUM!!

I really like Snow’s ready to eat Clam Chowders, both Manhattan and New England styles. Unlike their clam chowders, this corn chowder is condensed. You add one can of whole milk. This makes the “chowder” very thin. I felt like I was eating milk soup with a little corn and potato in it. I don’t care for this “chowder” one darn bit. After tasting, I threw out most of it.
