Another wonderful Nichols' tale.
This is the second in Nichols' series about his garden, house and village. It is not quite as wonderful as Down the Garden Path, but very well worth while if you enjoy Nichols' sense of humor, observation of his neighbors and eye for detail.

wonderful
I came across this title purely by chance, and decided to try it. Written with something today's authors have forgotten, the heart.I plan to get the other two in this trilogy, and maybe a couple more. This is a keeper, and get a couple more copies to give to someone you love.

Thatched Roof is unlike any other book i own
I love it. Beverley Nichols has a sweet, wry wit. My favorite chapters are Women and Water ... and Magic. I laugh out loud every time. I think the Professor is right about flowers; some of them are just shady characters.

A cozy read
Cast yourself back to England circa the 1920s-30s, snuggle up in a comfy chair by the fireside, and get ready to be drawn into the life of Beverley Nichols, the village of "Allways," and the story of how a centuries-old thatched cottage was restored. A great vacation from the 21st century, cell phones, and the hurried/harried life.

the books from Beverely Nichols are a praise to beauty in a garden.
Beverley Nichols is a very private man . a gentleman who loves gardensand also keeps an eye on the neigbours and there the fun comes in.I am re-reading the whole series once a year.It is an England where everybody would love to live.
