The Thing: Artbook

I love movie art books. When I saw this book for one of my absolute favorite movies I did not hesitate and the price was more than reasonable. What I did not know was that there are 375 full page, new pieces of art generated by 350 international artists from animation, illustration, fine art, comic books and movie posters that wished to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Carpenter's classic. All original new art. The print stock is very heavy and with 400 pages, each page is a full page piece of art, and will require study for a long time to come. It is simply stunning the interpretations and renderings of the iconic moments and shapes this movie embeds into the mind. If you have any affinity for "The Thing", this book is the joy of Christmas, only a lot darker. A MUST.

This book is truly fantastic! The art featured within in truly unique and covers a wide range of art styles and themes of the film! So many wonderful pieces are featured within! I only wish I had known about it in advance - would have loved the opportunity to submit a piece for consideration. Even if you're not a fan of John Carpenter's The Thing - sacrilege! - this book should definitely appeal to all graphic art fans and lovers of all art in general!

This is the best art book I have ever purchased. This is the perfect trifecta of price, quantity of pictures, and quality of art. Oh and variety of they art is outstanding. If you hold this book in your hands, you can tell that this product was made with love. After this release am going to be looking forward to any other books this company puts out because am sold.

This book is a must have for fans of The Thing! It's jammed packed with 400 pages of gorgeous high quality art based on the movie from a plethora of artists from all over. Each artist uses their own unique style which helps give the pages a lot of variety so it doesn't feel like you're looking at 30 different versions of the same picture. You've got photorealistic art, cartoonish art, graphic novel style and even some funny/ almost light-hearted takes all nicely packed into this sturdy hardcover book so unless you wanna spend the rest of the winter tied to this @#(*)%# couch I highly recommend picking this up!!

This book wasn't bad at all. The forward, by Eli Roth, was amusing, and provided a bit of insight onto how people were affected by the movie at release, but didn't do much more. The real meat of the book is in the art, and it's great! All kinds of sweet re-imaginings of The Thing creatures, modernized movie posters, that sorta thing. Not quite sure if it was worth the 40 bucks I paid for it on its own, but for collectors? Certainly a deal.

WOW! This book far exceeded my expectations. Hardcover. Big dimensions (9" x 12" x 1 ½"). 400 pages of brilliant original artwork by various, talented artists. Almost every page is worthy of being a full-size poster or t-shirt. I love the variety of artistic styles. This is one of the best books I'll ever own. If you're a big fan of John Carpenter's "The Thing," this book is an essential buy. Well worth the price!

This book is filled with original artwork all inspired by the 1982 John Carpenter classic horror film, The Thing. There are hundreds of original art pieces featured here, and they range from incredible to adequate. The ratio of great quality artwork is very high and this is a book that you could return to again and again for creative and inspired imagery from the film.

This book is actually bigger and better than I first anticipated! I’m a huge fan of John Carpenter, especially The Thing and I have been ever since I was very young. Sci-fi, monster flicks & Horror have always been my favorite genre, so I had high hopes for this 35th anniversary of the movie and let me tell you, it does not disappoint in the least! Highly recommended especially if you’re a fan! 10/10

If you are a fan of the movie this book is a wise purchase. Lots a great art, mostly new pieces. Not a lot of text. It really is all about the visuals and totally worthwhile.

If you are a fan of John Carpenter's The Thing, you will very likely love this book. The book is hard back bound on thick, quality paper with the prints in high resolution. The art itself is commissioned from several artist each with a perspective on the film. I was very impressed with book and can recommend without hesitation.

Great product

Bought this for my husband for Christmas. It was quite hard to track down in the UK. Managed to get a copy from Amazon US. He was delighted with it. Lots of gorgeous artwork, good quality book.
