Creating a pipe lamp is easier with a pre-assmbled SteamLit Pipe Lamp Socket. We use a 2 ton press to meld our weather proof socket and an 1-1/4" to 1/2" black gas pipe reducer together. No Glue needed when fitting and socket are pressed together.

Disappointed
This was nothing more than a simple 1/2 inch to 1 1/4 inch reducer with a basic 2 wire plug. The plug wasn't even secured in any way to the reducer. No epoxy or even glue. So for about $8.00 in parts you could do this at home by yourself.

Waste of money
We were trying to finish up an industrial look iron pipe lamp and ordered this to make the job easier. It arrived on the 18th. We added it to the lamp base on the 20th in anticipation of giving it as a gift on the 23rd. No bulb will screw into the socket. None. A voltage meter does show that the electricity is going to the socket but no bulb will screw in correctly. No time to reorder so money wasted and now I need to shop at the last minute. Also the wires are extremely short!

Lifesaver- rather project/birthday present saver
After spending hours at a hardware store I found everything else I needed for the lamp I was making but couldn't find out figure out the last part- how to go from plumbing pipes to the electrical part for the bulb. Then I happened across this part on Amazon- suffice to say it was the missing link and I was able to finish the present, which he loved and resulted in an order for 2 more lamps just like it from other people.Looking forward to ordering more of these parts and others like it.

Dont!
The 1st time I ordered this item (x3) the sockets were set in the base crooked. I returned those, ordered 3 more. We got the light all out together, mounted it to the ceiling - when we screwed in the light bulbs the socket the base twisted, the electricity cracked and the whole light went dark. Apparently the base was loose and the wires twisted. The socket in the center of the new light is garbage and we have to take it down and take it apart. Starting from fresh but not with these sockets!

Best socket for this type of lamp.
The sockets I see used on this type of lamp just look off, this one is perfect to finish a great project off with.

good but pricey
if you want the industrial pipe lamp look this is great for ease of use and not having to deal with getting the socket seated, which I guess is the reason for the mark up. However, if you take some time these components are readily available off the shelf. A good product that worked for my needs but if you are looking for true DYI type project these aren't overly difficult to make yourself.

Cool for projects
Cool for projects. We were building some Steampunk style lights and furniture and these were great!

Can't take the heat
Some light bulbs would not screw in all the way due to the very stiff rubber shroud that is too long. Although I intended to use only LED bulbs. It's Rated 250 volts and 660 watts so I decided to try a 100 watt ordinary light bulb. After only 20 minutes or so I turned it off and unscrewed the bulb and the socket came out with it. This lamp socket is now completely useless.
