Fotasy Canon FD Lens to Canon EOS RF Mount Metal Adapter, FD EOS R Adapter, fits Canon FD Mount Classic Manual Lense & Canon RF Mirrorless Camera EOS R/RP/Ra / R5 / R6

I recently got an EOS R10 and was gifted some FD mount lenses to use with it. I picked this up since it was low cost and arrived fast and so far very pleased with it. Make sure the ring is set to open before mounting the FD lens to it and then set it over to lock to have control over the aperture and then mount it to the camera like you would a typical RF mount lens. The adapted lenses mounted securely and I didn't feel any wiggle or play, The images I'm getting with them are fantastic (I included a few of my favorites I got with a vivitar 200mm f/3.5 and a canon 50mm macro f/3.5) and with the very low cost of most FD lenses on the market (both lenses I mentioned can be found for under $100 each) pairing this adapter with an R series camera is a great way to pick up some nicer lenses on the cheap if you're starting out like me!

This Canon FD to Canon EOS R adapter is essentially perfect. It is very heavy for what it is - it is made with a lot of metal. Both ends of the adapter fit very nicely: Both the camera side (EOS R) and the lens side (FD) connect with a reassuring and tight "clunk". The distances seem to be spot on - no issues with infinity focus. I was expecting to pay a LOT more than this to fit my ancient Canon FD lenses onto my lovely, new EOS R. This adapter does the trick! It is hard to know why one would choose to buy something more expensive. Now, about the FD lenses - they S-U-C-K compared to my new RF lenses (the 24-105MM f/4L IS USM and the 35mm f/1.8 IS STM). I took some rather carefully planned images with the FD 135mm f/2 and the 100mm f/2.8. Before I got to the pixel level, I could see that the images were soft. Even stopped down to f/5.6, they were still soft. My FD 135 seems to be a little misaligned (there are ghosts visible at the pixel level); my 100 is just soft. I was (naively??) expecting more. Also, the nifty little box with fingers above it that move as you focus, which the R has as a second manual focusing aid, are not visible with these lenses. This is a big disappointment for me. You still have the sparkly red focus thingys, and you can zoom in with the EVF to 10X, so (overall) Manual Focus is OK. (I suppose the box/fingers aid is only possible when the camera can "hear" the focus position of the lens.) Alas. Whatever. It is still a nice feeling to be able to mount my old Canon glass on my new Canon camera. Addition: I also bought the Leica M lens to EOS R camera adapter, and it seems that the reviews for that item falls here, too. The quality of the adapter is also excellent in every way. Highly recommended! The biggest difference if that the old Leica M lenses I inherited from my father are very, very good. The pixel-level image quality is great. I am a happy camper!

I finally got a mirrorless camera (EOS R), and I still have a lot of FD lenses in my collection. First, I don't think this adapter would fit well, but it does! For the price, it is a very good deal. I can mount all my FD lenses without wiggling - very stable. I usually don't shoot at less than f/8 so the brightness of LCD is not an issue. Using focus peaking feature, I can focus very easily and the pictures came out perfect!. I mount the lenses to the adapter first before mounting the whole package to the camera. I found that is better than mounting the adapter to the camera body first.

I have an old 1973 Canon TX film camera and I wanted to use the 50mm lens from that on my Canon RP Mirrorless camera. This product worked perfectly. I would recommend.

Have a few 55 year-old FL lenses (the predecessor mount to the FD, without the linkage that tells the camera what f/stop you've set on the lens - so you have to take exposure readings in stop-down mode). Don't really need to adapt them to my R7 since I have more modern equivalents of those lenses, with auto-focus and aperture control, but it was worth $15 to see how the FL lenses stack up against my modern lenses. 1) The FL 50mm f/1.8 lens (I have two copies of it) won't fit onto this adapter at all. 2) The FL 85mm f/1.8 lens that was my mainstay from about 1969 to 2005 when I got my first DSLR did mount and I was able to use it on my R7. Haven't given it much of a test - just a quick snap by indoor light - but it worked. a) The camera has to be told in it setup menu to allow it to take a picture without a lens attached, since without electrical contacts on the lens the camera doesn't know that there's a lens attached. b) Focus and exposure have to be done in full manual mode, of course, and you have to stop the lens down yourself. You can enlarge the image in the viewfinder to assist in focusing, but there are no other focusing aids. c) But suprisingly you can enter into the setup menu page for In Body Image Stabililzation (if your camera has it) what the lens' focal length is, to optimize its performance. All I can say is the combination with the FL 85mm f/1.8 works - but I'll stick with my fully-automatic RF 85 f/2 Macro IS !

Excellent build quality, super smooth when mounting / unmounting, and let's my nFD 50 f/1.4 work perfectly on my R6. Can't ask for much more!

Works well mechanically, but does not reach infinity focus with an FD lens. Focus is just short of infinity so distant subjects will be out of focus!

The fit and build quality are honestly much better than I expected. The newer bayonet lock lenses tend to wobble a little bit on this adapter, but older breech lock lenses are rock solid. The adapter feels nice and the knurling is actually quite similar to the knurling on FD lenses. The lever you need to lock and unlock when mounting and unmounting lenses is a bit of an annoyance, although I guess it is nice being able to quickly stop lenses down or throw them wide open.
