I Dream of Danger: A Ghost Ops Novel (Ghost Ops Novels, 2)

great second book in this series - for anyone who loves an alpha male
First off, let me just say that I'm a big fan of LMR's books. I've just got a thing for tough, super strong alpha males who melt at the sight of their h's (sigh) and in my opinion, LMR is one of the best in this genre. After reading Heart of Danger: A Ghost Ops Novel I eagerly pre-ordered this and waited on pins and needles to get this in my hot little hands. I was so eager that I started this at 9pm when it was sent to my kindle and I read it through one sitting...on the day of release (or really, the night before. I love kindle books!). So what do I think? I like it! I don't love it, but I thought this was a good solid book that gave us a good back story, a satisfying love story, the necessary and well deserved HEA and a good set up for the third book in the series. There's also a hint of a beautiful secondary romance between two minor characters that I'm hoping get more face time in the third novel. For readers of LMR, I thought Midnight Angel (Midnight) and Dangerous Passion were better, but IMHO this was one of her better ones. I had been a bit worried that I'd be disappointed by this book since I had read a review of the ARC which indicated that the book focused too much on setting up book 3 and the H and h were kind of shafted in this one. While I would've liked more time with them, I still thought that their story was well developed and rooted for them to find their HEA. There was a lot about the lab and the secret baddies, but to be honest, I just skimmed through those parts and settled in to read the parts that focused on Elle and Nick.(Possible spoiler alert) I think it was around 50% in before they're reunited again, though the first half has a lot of detail about their back stories and their pasts, showing what they meant to each other and how they each reacted when they thought the other was lost to them. For those who care, the ending isn't what I'd call a cliffhanger, but there's enough of a big tease that I'm already chomping on the bit to read the third book. The H and h do get their HEA, but the big tease involves the h and H of book 3 (End possible spoilers)Overall, I found this an enjoyable read with appealing characters, smooth writing, and a compelling suspense that didn't overwhelm the romance. I liked it as much as the first book, though I do wish more time was spent with present day H and h even as I understand that their past had to be sufficiently fleshed out to get to their HEA.

Elle and Nick, made for each other
Just a good solid well written book filled with some super characters.Elle grew up in a priviledged life. Her Dad was a Judge and she pretty much had everything she ever wanted.Enter Nick Ross. A boy her Dad took in and basically raised alongside Elle. Nick was an intregal part of her life till the day he just disappeared.Ten years later Elle isn't rich. Hell. She's got all she can do to pay her bills. Her Dad was forced off the bench when demencia and alzheimers took over his life and its been Elle's fight to pay the bills and her Fathers round the clock medical expenses. She has no time for a life of her own. Its all taken by her dying Father. When her Dad dies Nick Ross walks back into her life.Nick never tells her why he left or what he's been doing. He can't. He's a Spec Op soldier and where he goes and what he does is top secret. He and Elle do make love and talk things out. Elle is asleep when Nick gets a text. He has to go. Duty calls. He leaves Elle a note and bugs out for his base.Elle wakes up and Nick, her Nick is gone again. She never finds the note. She turns her back on her old life and heads to Cali. She never does talk to Nick. Not for another ten years.Nicks assignment took three months. By the time he got back Elle was gone. The house was taken over by the bank. Nick has no idea where Elle went and doesn't find out for ten long years. So begins one hell of a good story. We have Elle, Nick and the Community Nick lives in. All folks who are off the grid and wanted by the Govt or are on the run.We also have Dr. Charles Lee who really adds spice to this story in a big way. Holy cow.Just one good read. Five stars.

3.5 stars for originality
I love LMR. This book however was not up to par with some of her past masterpieces. This book reminds me a little of "Dangerous Lover" which is one of my favorite books by this author. The background stories are similar but "DL" was so much more deeper and sweeter. You really felt hero has loved his lady since forever. This book, not so much. I don't mind the futuristic angle in this romantic suspense, but some scenarios allowed by future technology and heroine's psychic abilities were a little over the top for me. Loved the first book in this series, but hero in this book is so alpha he borders on caveman, with very little tenderness and depth of love for heroine. Some at the end but frankly by that time I had already formed my opinion that he was a knuckle dragging D**K most of the time. And honestly while I love an alpha male (which is usually why I love LMR's books) I am sick and tired of the heroine being this naïve, sexless female, and then poof his large one transforms them into sex kittens. Just one of these times I would love the Alpha male to meet an Alpha female, secure in herself and her sexuality. I have at least ten of LMR's books on my keeper shelf, this one will not join them.

My Favorite Author......
...and a very readable, suspenseful book, but definitely not her finest novel. Briefly, this is a five star series , with an original overall plot, alpha heroes , superior female leads, and each novel is also a separate story while also part of the main theme . A good formula all in all, and although I do not particularly like paranormal, the other worldly aspects in these books are not only acceptable but lend another dimension here. What I find unacceptable is the inclusion of zombies. It seems that every supposed current 'in' ploy made it into I Dream of Danger....and personally,I detest vampires, horror, and all mysticism.Nick, the main man, is honorable ,courageous ,and hot, as are his partners in their mountain fortress ..Elle,the girl he left behind, can be similarly described. The villain is truly evil, but I am not going to divulge the plot. It is definitely worth reading, but, if possible, read the series in order.

Can be avoided...
I really got stuck with the previous one in this series so I wanted to know what would happen after. Well, nothing interesting did. Neither had the story developped nor have I become addicted.Spare your money and your time.I will not buy the next one as this one finishes with another "shadow man" leaving the place, all by himself to rescue another " special girl in distress".Just the same plot again? No thanks!
