Diane Duane delivers again
She's my favorite Star Trek author, and she does a great treatment of Spider-man as well. They should have adapted the Venom movie from this book, instead of killing the character off on-screen!

Quite possibly the best Spider-Man prose novel ever published.
Let me just say, this book is amazing. If you're looking for a Venom story, this is for you. Dialogue is great, plot runs fast, and there's tons of action. I finished Venom Factor in one day, AFTER I got home from school, so there was only about 3-4 hours of reading time. That's how good this book is! I highly recommend it! I also suggest the Sinister Six trilogy by Adam Troy-Castro if you're looking for some epic Spidey reads.

Nothing short of excellent!!
This novel was my first introduction to Marvel books, and Diane Duane did not disappoint. She has written, quite possibly the best Spider-Man book I have ever read. Her attention to detail in the world of the wall crawling web-slinging hero is nothing short of excellent. Her characterization for the main heroes as well as the villainous Hobgoblin and the Lethal Protector, Venom, are well-written. If you enjoy the Spider-Man comic books and also enjoy reading a good novel, I highly recommend you give this book a try.

Imaginative and exciting
WOW! This was the best Spiderman book I've ever read in my whole entire life. The plot was one of the best that I have read in a long long time and this book will really bring the kid out in you. The best part of it is that it goes along side with the comic book series. I would recommend this book to children between the ages of twelve and seventeen. It's a real thriller and great with the suspence. This book literaly grabs hold of you and wont let you put it down until you've read the very last page. They author was very good in bringing the Hob Gobblin and Venom together in one story. It was great and very imagineative but it wasn't overdone or a real bore book. It kept you interested and constantly wanting more, each page would almost turn its' self. Their was never one part of this book that I thought could be better, everything was in place and aloud the reader go through it smothly and not have to re-read a certin part twice just to get the meaning. There was no way you couldn't love this book unless you were a real big Venom. But even then they gave Venom a very good role and portraide him as the villan that he really is, and the Hob Gobllin was everything that I had hoped and dreamed of. After I checked this book out from the library I ran out and bought the next book in the series. And there is no doubt in my mind that this one will be just as good as the first one. Well we shall see!

A Venomous Web is Slung!
Author Diane Duane weaves a great story about everyone favorite web-slinger, Spiderman. It appears that a someone, some creature, is terrorizing and killing certain members of N.Y.C.'s homeless population . Plus, this someone has a tasty bite for food that is radioactive. The creature at first appears to be Spiderman's enemy Venom or is it? Could the creature be Hobglobin? An unlikely allegiance is formed to find the true killer.Although I not familiar with the character of Venom and the plot as it appeared in the popular comic book Diane Duane fills in the gaps for the reader and continues the story and characterization(s) in grand style. While I know that casting on the Spiderman sequel has begun and rumors of the sequel's story lines use the traditional, original villains that many of us grew up with. I hope that down the road that movie producers will have the insight to do at least one film about Venom and Spidey.

fireplace fodder
Let me start off by saying that I'm the type of person who has to finish something once he has started it, so it is rare that I won't finish a book. But honestly after reading about a hundred some odd pages of this book I couldn't force myself to finish it. It was just that bad. I am a spidey fan and I read the book said on the cover that she was a new York times best seller, so I figured it couldn't be that bad. But what I confronted was possibly the worst, most pointless, boring book I have ever read in my life. Forget about the fact that Duane refers to Spiderman as "Spidey" throughout the book and Hobgoblin as "Hobbie" but the dialogue coming outof Spiderman's mouth was such an unnatural and pathetic attempt at wit. And the fight scenes were even more pointless. There were literaly lines that read like this: "Spidey hit Hobbie, sending him reeling backward. Hobbie came back up and punched Spidey in the face. Spidey didn't like it." Ontop of that, there was a horrible subplot involving Spiderman's wife Mary Jane auditioning as a model. Completely boring and not fitting in anywhere in the book. I wouldn't reccomend reading this book unless you are 9 years old or you are a hardcore Spidey-phile. And if you are both, hey, that's great. Maybe you could make some sense out of this piece of crap.

Spider Maan!!! Spider Maan!!!
I liked it a lot because it has a lot of detail. It has many details about the way that the villians fought with our hero, Spider Man, in dangerous places. I liked some of the pictures thta they had is the book. They had many action in them. Each picture was about each chapter. This book is about when an alien being is rampaging the streets and sewers of Manhattan. People are saying that it's Venom. But Spider Man thinks it's something else. Now, he has to hunt it down as part of a goverment agent. With two problems in his hands, he still has to find Hobgoblin's lair and destroy his plan of destorying Manhattan. The villians that he has to face in all are Hobgoblin, Venom, and the alien.
