Don’t look foolish. This opener looks great but it’s a pain.
I like Milwaukee tools and you must like them too, if you are looking at this bottle opener. But even if you fiddle with it until you look like a fool, you won’t be able to open some brands of beer or soda with this tool. How can a bottle opener not work?WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THE MILWAUKEE BOTTLE OPENER?:1) This is a sturdy and well-finished opener. It is a solid tool with a handle like a screwdriver that is unlikely to slip out of your damp hand. The opener part is plated steel and looks like it will never break. There is some kind of international sign/symbol for beer on the end of the handle so you can tell what it is from above. There is even a wire stripper notch on the business end of the handle. It’s not quite up to Milwaukee standards, but that’s OK.2) This is an eye-catching, funny bottle opener. The Milwaukee logo appears three times. There’s even a warning about electrical insulation and wearing eye protection. It is very funny, as long as you don't think that drinking alcohol while using power tools is part of the joke.WHAT DON'T YOU LIKE ABOUT THE MILWAUKEE BOTTLE OPENER?:1) Unfortunately, the metal prong is too thick to get between the cap and the bulge on the neck of some popular beverage bottles. That includes some Lagunitas whose caps can't be lifted by this opener no matter what I do. And, Lagunitas makes one of my favorite IPAs.Plus, I guarantee that if you pull out this flashy opener in front of your friends/workmates and you can’t even get the cap off your bottle, you will be kidded about it for life.2) Also, the wire stripper built into the handle is fiddly and awkward. I couldn’t get a good stripping job for anything. I know — who needs a wire stripper on a bottle opener? But it is there and I checked it out.CONSIDERATIONS:I’m guessing this is a common problem because all the openers are formed by the same metal stamping. And it might not affect the bottles you use, or it might. I did manage to fix the problem, by grinding the inner prong down at home with my grinder. It was awkward and looks crummy, but now it works. But why do you need the grief?RECOMMENDATIONS:Now that you know about the problem, you have some choices. You can get the thing for the joke and just not use it, or you can stay away from products that cap their bottles close to the neck. Or, you can regrind the prong so it fits under bottlecaps better. Or, you can save your money and buy something else that you want more. After all, there are lots of bottle openers out there for you to choose from.

It just works.
I love when a simple item just does what you expect it to do. This bottle opener is sturdy, it's a good size, it fits nicely in my hand, and it opens bottle easily. I've owned a few bottle openers and either they get lost easily (because they are too small) or they don't work, but this one fits easily under the lip of the bottle cap and picks it right off with little effort. Now the only thing I have to watch out for is someone "borrowing" it permanently.

Perfect gift!
Amazing item! Got this for my husband when we thought we lost his first one camping! We found it, and now he's glad we has two! One for the kitchen and one for the garage! A perfect gift for any guy!

Best tool for opening capped bottles
I own this and the similarly made Klein bottle opener. Both are excellent. I have a preference for the Klein, but that may be because it was the first bottle opener of this type that I discovered. This one has the very slight advantage of having a wire stripper in the neck, so if you follow the no single-purpose kitchen gadgets rule, this one passes on a technicality. Other than that, pretty much the same.

Tool guy? You need this!
This thing rocks. It is solid and opens bottles like a fiend. The wire stripper is useless, probably mostly due to drinking my brew whilst fishing lines. I ended up buying one for all my guy friends since they have all commented on it more than once.I also have the Klein opener which is kept on my workbench and it is solid as well. (Note on the Klein: There is a state of CA packaging warning about washing your hands after each use due to some cancer causing chemical in its construction)

Solid feeling and easy to use bottle opener
My dad has a similar type of bottle opener - the kind with a screwdriver-like handle. I've always noticed his was the easiest to use bottle opener I've ever tried and wanted one of my own. When my cheap wine corkscrew/bottle opener started to abrade away at the lip, making it unusable, I searched Amazon for this type of bottle opener. This works just as easily as I hoped it would.I can't say I plan to use the wire stripper as well but at least it's there in case I ever need it.

Average at best
Looks cool, thought it would be more "rugged" though. Gave it to my brother who is a carpenter as a gift, and he said it doesn't open bottles the best.
