Quick to Stitch Cross Stitch Keepsakes Paperback – 30 May 2008

Bought this as a Christmas present for my daughter, looks a good book for a beginner which is ideal for my daughter.

Absolutely fantastic. Would thoroughly recommend this book. I've made a few keep sakes for friends already and can't wait to start another one. This is my best cross stitch book so far and believe me I've got a lot.

i love Helen Phillips books they are so easy and clear to understand and i need more hours in the day to do my stitching

C'est un très beau livre avec de nombreux modèles très mignons à broder au point de croix. Dans son livre, Helen Phiipps propose des mini modèles très rapides à broder pour celles qui n'ont pas beaucoup de temps à consacrer aux travaux manuels ou quand on est pressée (pour un cadeau par exemple), mais il existe aussi des modèles pour celles qui ont plus de temps. Les grilles sont grandes donc facile à lire (pas besoin de loupe !) et les couleurs des modèles sont très jolis. Les modèles sont classés par thèmes (bébé, mariage, anniversaire, etc...). C'est un livre en anglais (donc avec un style de modèles assez british), mais avec les grilles il est accessible même aux non anglophones, et si on ne veut pas copier les modèles stricto sensus, on peut au moins s'en inspirer.

I have to admit that Helen Philipps is one of my favorite designers. Her pieces can be called whimsical by some and dear to the heart by others but she is dedicated to helping cross-stitchers accomplish excellence. This book is for the stitcher who wants to have a few things made up as special gifts and doesn't have much time to do it. But, though they are small they are charming and will become treasured momentos to the recipient. Helen's color pallette is so cheerful that I always smile when I open her books and this is no exception. Her charts are clear and color coded. Some of them have symbol codes as well. However, in my copy of the paperback, the symbol in the color key on page 41 is wrong. It should be on the mauve. I haven't checked the other charts yet. If you follow her color coding you can't stray and will have something to be proud of. There are lots of choices even a little teddybear and some ragggedy designs for young children. There is a small Wedding Sampler and luggage tags, A New Home picture and a Friendship one also, affirmation pillows and Bon Voyage wishes. I do want to be very clear here. This is not like her other books. There is not a great amount of detail here and there are no intricate designs. It's usually easy to tell what the motto of her books are. If I had to guess I'd say that this one was, "Keep It Simple." In short, great variety here, quick and easy, small and fun. These are happy pieces and make me happy too.

Dieses Buch ist einach wunderschön! Auch die Kombination mit Perlen und Charms, die kurzen Texte auf den Bildern, die positiven Farben, das alles macht aus meinen Werken ganz traumhaft schöne und vor allem sehr persönliche Geschenke. Durch die Farbvorlagen sind die Sachen auch schnell und leicht nach zu arbeiten! Bin begeistert und kann das Buch nur empfehlen!
