Making Costume Jewelry: An Easy & Complete Step by Step Guide Kindle Edition

I have quite a few jewelry making books, both in paper and on my Kindle and this is easily one of the most detailed! I absolutely loved at the beginning that there were pictures of the tools needed for all the projects in the book and a rundown of what they are, what they're used for, etc. As awesome as that was, the second chapter that covers materials needed was the best! I have this flagged on my Kindle for future projects. This goes through the different types of wire used in jewelry making. Anyone that's made any form of jewelry that requires wire knows it can be tricky picking the right type. This breaks down each of the most commonly used wires and what they are best used for. Going into other materials that can be used (elastic cord, invisible cord, etc) is just a bonus. To top off all that useful info is more on beads that can be used and the different clasps available, some of which i've never heard of, and different types of findings used. The next chapter goes into where to buy all these things and tips on making/selling your jewelry. Basically, all the information you need in the first half of this book. There are a decent amount of pictures per project, usually for steps that are more intricate, but honestly the directions are so well written, i don't think pictures are really necessary for each individual step. My only gripe with this book is that there are not many projects. That being said, the projects they do have will have you doing steps that can be easily translated into other projects. There's great instructions for a lampwork bead bracelet. Once you make a bracelet, complete with clasps and all, you can pretty much substitute any material you want. I did receive this book for a discount for giving my honest review. I'd easily buy this though. It's a keeper!

As someone who has been making my own jewelry for myself and for gifts for many years now, I found this guide to be quite comprehensive! This guide would be great for anyone who has just decided to begin the hobby of jewelry making all the way up to people who are already skilled in the hobby. It begins by going through ways to get ideas and inspirations to come up with wonderful designs for jewelry. Inspiration can be found all over! Need a fabulous necklace to go with your favorite shirt? Start there! Do you love natural jewelry designs? Take a walk outside!The guide then goes over all of the different tools you will need to properly and easily make your jewelry designs. Next the guide goes over all of the different types of findings and beads that are available. Once you have gathered all of your tools, findings and beads...it is time to make a project! The end of the guide has many different step by step projects. The directions are very easy to follow and would make great pieces to start on as a beginner.All in all, this guide is very clear and to the point and very easy to understand. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in jewelry making!*I received this product at a discount for my honest review.*

Making Costume Jewelry book is a detailed breakdown of the tools needed, explanation of different clasps, beads, attachments (etc) and how to create the projects given. This book is for the novice who isn't familiar with jewelry at all. After reading the tools needed for each project, many of the tools can be substituted, so don't spend all your money by following the instructions. Each project has a list of supplies needed then a step by step with one picture per step, but no final picture of the finished project you are trying to replicate.Although very detailed and informative, the descriptions are lengthy and most can be described with just a picture and label. Example: The section explaning the different types of clasps have a good paragraph with an explanation. With the name and picture above the explanation, being just a straight-forward clasp, it seems excessive and a waste. "Box Clasp: Also known as the Tab insert. This clasp is made up of a tab, which inserts into a decorative box or frame." This quote from the book is then followed by 8 more lines describing the Box Clasp. Each item introduced (beads, clasps, etc) is followed by a lengthy description.Overall, if you are a complete novice and want to learn everything there is to know about each item, bead and tool used in jewelry this is the book for you. There are step-by-step projects, but like I said above, you will never see the finished project. This book was purchased at a discount in return for this honest review.

This book is for the beginner who wants to learn the basics of jewelry making. It tells you which tools you'll need, along with what supplies you need and places to find supplies. There are several projects that you can make.The step by step instructions can be a bit confusing, especially for an absolute beginner. The supply lists are very basic and don't always give types of wire or quantities of beads. These are important things to know as the beginner does not have a stash of beads or extra wire and will need to know exactly what to purchase. It's a bummer to get part way through a project only to find that you are short on supplies.Not all of the procedures have photos and the ones that do look absolutely horrible. They are unfocused and bleary. It's hard to see the work in detail. I, like many people, learn better by looking at pictures than following instructions.The information is good for a beginner but the presentation needs work. I probably will not reference this book again as none of the projects interest me. I am giving this ebook three stars for the reasons I listed above.

Without a picture of the finished product how do I know if I want to make it in the first place?

Rather good short overview of tools, material and techniques, but projects rather dull. Ebook version not recommended as pictures are tiny and in very bad quality. Bought it because it was on sale, not worth even that.

Have not made anything yet. But have had a look and definitely will be making some of the lovely things in this book.

Great step by step guide very well presented would like to havemore pictures when making the jewelry . But quite helpful wouldbuy more books.
