really cute idea but we may have had a lemon
Santa brought this for my 18mo old that loves Thomas. He didn't quite get it, but is getting the hang of it, its super cute. However, It was broken right of the box stuck on demo mode. My Husband was able to fix it Thank goodness, a wire that wasn't connected properly. 2 weeks later my parents came to see the kids new things and he wasn't working again. Again Daddy took it apart and figured out what was going on. Maybe we were unlucky but it seems to be a tad flawed or not quite sturdy enough. Possibly why when I went to Fischer Prices site for info it is listed as discontinued already. =/

A lot of fun
Love love love this...We bought it as a present for a friend's 2 year old boy, who is really into Thomas. We were shipping it out of country, so we took it out of the package and took a look at it. I have to be honest, I might have liked it more than my own 2 year old :-) It is pretty loud, I cannot remember if there is a volume adjustment (fellow reviewers help me out here), but my friend said her son was a little scared of it once it started talking. I am sure it just takes a little bit of time for the kiddos to get used to it though. It really is a very fun toy!

Daughter loves...
My daughter absolutely loves this Thomas train. It's a decent size train. As described it goes forward and backwards when you wave the yellow wand or your hand over the top. It speaks in the Thomas voice. The volume is a little loud but I don't mind. Unfortunately, I guess it depends on the luck of the draw if yours will not function properly or stop functioning all together after a few weeks. This is my second Thomas train. The first stop functioning properly after 3 weeks but this second one has been working ok. Overall, if your child is a Thomas fan I'm sure they'll enjoy it. I would try to get on sale and save your receipt.

expected better..
I'm giving it 3 stars because it certainly does seem to have a mind of its own, (bought for my 3yr old) he plays with it for about 15 minutes if that and then he's done - sometimes it'll go in the total opposite direction - sometimes it'll be really touchy and back up and then go forward then back- its an okay toy for sure if your little one loves Thomas but just be warned it can be a little aggravating at times when it's not working like you want it to. It seems like it needs to constantly have its direction changed it doesn't really respond to motion hands that well In my opinion.

I bought this as a decoration for a Thomas Party, to be used later as a toy. The batteries didn't last long which is expected, but when I replaced them with new batteries it didn't run well. It's slow and the sound is muffled as though the batteries are dying. We even tested the batteries and they are at 100%, so that's not the problem. The toy itself is fun and my son loved playing with it while it lasted. It seems to be very durable also.

Another fun Thomas toy!
Really cute toy! Easy to manipulate the train and of course it's Thomas, to my Grandson that is everything. He loves this so much. It does have music and talks, not obnoxious in any way which is good as there is no volume control. Overall a great toy that appears to be well made.

so I thought he would love this toy
My son really loves Thomas, so I thought he would love this toy. He does sort of, but this toy doesn't respond like asap. It takes a few seconds to respond to a wave. But overall it is a very nice toy.

This was my 2 yr. olds fav. xmas gift! He loves it. I don't give it 5 stars b/c it is not quite as easy as they make it appear to move with your hand motions.

It’s nice but won’t go very far
You can wave your hand over the train and he goes forward and avoids obstacles. But he won’t go very far before you need to run your hand over again. Doesn’t hold much interest for a small toddler and the price is high for such short time.

Good little Thomas for little kids
Our 1 year old son and 3 year old daughter pull this toy out every day or two to play with. Seems to be a hit almost every time. They are a little young to really understand how to make it all work properly, but that doesn't stop them from having fun. No little parts or pieces so it seems safe as long as they are supervised.Thomas has 3 "modes" of play. The most popular in our house is the race mode. Where you have to wave your hand over the top multiple times, then Thomas zooms across the room fairly quickly, with music playing, until he gets close to an obstacle.Great fun for little kids, not sure how much they will enjoy it as they get older. But it has been 4 months and still almost daily use.
