Not for polishing stones
If you use this as a step four then you need to continue with a step five. We tumbled six different types of rocks using this and every one of them never polished and were always dull. Use cerium oxide since it is a true final polish, this grit is a pre-polish and waste of time after 400.

More like a fine grade pre-polish
I purchased this 5Lb polish back in July. It came in individual 1Lb bags. I still had some Rock Shed Aluminum Oxide polish so I didn't start using this polish right away.My first batch using the MJR polish came out looking the same as it did after the 500 Grit pre-polish, so I thought I'd just got some contaminate from the previous stage. My second batch (after 1 week tumble) came out the same, so I ran it for another week, then two. It did get smoother, but no shiny lusterCompared to the Rock Shed polish this is denser, 3T =4T by weight. It acts a lot like Silicon Carbide grit, I get the same sort of results using 1500 SiC fine grit. So if you want a polish to give shine and luster to agates, look elsewhere. If you want a less expensive fine grit, maybe this works for you.

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got the bling.
This is the most expensive dirt I've ever bought. I am no rookie at tumbling stones and this material will not put a gloss to even obsidian. I've tried every variation I can think of. I have even tried one stone at a time in a Thumler that has yielded lots of gloss. I suggest buying elsewhere.

This IS NOT POLISH
This is ill listed to be polish, but it is not. It can be considered a prepolish, and you can find better prices elsewhere.I ran my tumbler for more than a week with this grit after 500 silicone carbide and the rocks still came out flat matte. I would have continued tumbling if the pieces weren't sensitive to being worn away (the rocks are quartz and had been cut to shapes, i dont want the corners completely rounded off).I am now looking for a real polish. This listing is a borderline scam that preys on inexperienced rock tumblers.

Doesn’t work for rock polishing
I’ve used this as a stage 4 polish for about 10 batches of rocks on my rotary tumblers, and have not once achieved a shiny polish on any batch. I wish I had read all the other similar reviews before I wasted my money on this useless product. I’ll be switching back to my old brand.

Didn’t work
I ran step 4/polish twice, blamed myself, went back and ran step 3/pre- polish again, then step 4/polish 2 more times. Bought new pellets, cleaned my tumbler really good. Still matte finish on my rocks. I decided I wasn’t going to waste any more time, effort, or expensive grit till I figured out my problem. I finally gave up. I wish I’d read these reviews sooner. I ordered from Rock Shed like someone recommended. I’m now tumbling this same load (rocks are getting smaller and smaller) that I started step 1 in beginning in October of 2021. Hope new stuff works. Never buying from this place again.
