PROP 65 WARNING FOR BIRTH DEFECTS AND REPRODUCTIVE HARM ON BOTTLE!
I have done a side by side comparison of six organic Yacon Syrups and am rating them in order of my own personal preference with a detailed run down on the pros and cons for each. I have not compared price as this is subject to change.NATUREVIBEThis came in at 5/6 in my Yacon comparison for thickness. In addition to its runniness, it also has an unusual lemon-sour flavor. However more importantly, the following should be noted before purchase......This was the only Yacon syrup that I tested that came in a bottle marked“ This product contains a chemical that is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm”The fact that this info is not (at the time of writing) on the product listing is unacceptable. This Yacon loses 2 points for the strange sour-lemon flavor. It loses 2 points for requiring a Prop 65 warning (and for the seller not including this in the listing information) and it loses another point for being in a plastic bottle. If I could give it zero stars I would. I am reluctantly giving it 1 star. Please see my other Yacon reviews for far better options!BackgroundI first tried Yacon syrup in 2015 but was disappointed in the quality of the brands available at that time. In 2018 I decided to give it another try and ordered Blue Lily and Alovitox Yacon to compare and decided at that time, the Blue Lily Yacon was the winner. Fast forward to 2019, the number of other organic brands of Yacon has increased and curious to see how they stacked up against my favorite, I purchased them all.Review line-up I have compared the following brands in no particular order. I prefer using organic ingredients where possible, so I am only reviewing the organic brands available on Amazon currently.- Swanson Organic Yacon Syrup- Alovitox Organic Premium Yacon Syrup- Blue Lily Organics Pure Yacon Syrup- Naturevibe Botanicals Organic Yacon Syrup- Peruvian Naturals Yacon Syrup- Zint Organic Yacon SyrupPlease note, I also previously reviewed the Organic Traditions Yacon Syrup (in 2015) You can read that review on the product page. Comparatively, that brand is very expensive and was very thin and watery. I do not consider it a viable option, and my comments on that syrup still stand, so I haven’t included that brand in the 2019 comparison testing with the other 6 syrups. To see my other Yacon reviews, click on my profile name to navigate to my page. There you can scroll through all of my reviews to find them. However, I have also put the Yacon Syrups I have reviewed into a list. That list is published on my profile. There, you can click on the photo of each product to be taken to the product page to read my review of that brand.I have been very particular in my tasting notes as I am comparing one to the other and tasting them repeatedly as I take notes on the differences. Once you compare them back and forth a few times the more subtle difference become apparent.Comparison of Nutritional ValuesIt is very confusing as to why there should be such huge differences between brands. All values are for 1 tsp although how many mls or grams there are in a tsp varies by brand. I have rated them from lowest in calories to highest.1. Swanson – 1tsp/7grams. Calories:5, Carbs 1.5g, Sugar <1 Refrigerate after opening2. Alovitox – 1 tsp/5ml. Calories 7, Carbs 4g, Sugar 2g Refrigerate after opening3. Blue Lily – 1 tsp/4.9ml. Calories 13, Carbs <4g, Sugar <3g Store in a cool dark place4. Peruvian Naturals – 1tsp/5grams. Calories 14, Carbs 4g, Sugar 3g Refrigerate after opening5. Naturevibe – 1 tsp/5ml. Calories 15, Carbs 4g, Sugar3g Store in a cool dry place6. Zint – 1 tsp/4.9ml. Calories 20, Carbs 4g, Sugar 2g, Fiber 2g (Fiber 10% daily Value) Store in a cool dry area, No refrigeration requiredStorageSome trustworthy brands state that refrigeration is required after opening. None of the syrups have preservatives, so personally, I prefer to refrigerate. It can’t hurt, and I don’t understand why some say to do it and some not. So better to err on the side of caution in my opinion.Comparison of ThicknessFrom thickest to thinnest in the following order. There are huge difference between the #1 and #61. Swanson (Thickest)2. Alovitox3. Peruvian Naturals4. Blue Lily5. Naturevibe6. Zint (Thinnest)As you can tell, I might be a little bit nuts about ingredients! In some of my other reviews I test salts and have been known to taste 10 different soy sauces in one sitting! I recently purchased 9 different lemon zesters just to work out which one was best. Scam! They don’t give you a full 8oz bottle
I wanted to give them a zero star rating but apparently that’s not possible. Too bad I can’t return this since it’s a food item. As you will see in the photos, it isn’t a full container of syrup. For the cost of $17.99, I’m pretty angry the bottle doesn’t even contain 8 fluid ounces of the product as stated. Don’t purchase this brand!

UNBELIEVABLY AWFUL TASTING! No way this is Yakon!!
As a long term Yakon sweetener user, I thought I'd try a different brand. Boy was that a mistake!! Bitter/ sour foul tasting beyond anything I've ever experienced. Had to toss my expensive coffee out after adding a small amount to sweeten. YUCK!! So bad I can't even believe it. I really think something is wrong with this bottle, and sadly no recourse. Cannot be returned. :( :( What a waste!! On the flip side; Zint, Blue Lily, and Alovitox brands are all good, and similar in taste, so go there instead. Ps. my bottle was just more than half full...

Read the Warning Label before you purchase!!!
To be fair, the label states that this is an Organic Dietary Supplement. If this is a "Dietary Supplement", why is is being touted as a Sweetener? When I opened it, to me, it has the aroma of "Delta Cane Syrup". As far as the flavor, I do not like. it. After tasting this product and waiting a few minutes, there was an odd taste and texture on the back of my tongue. BUT, my biggest turn off with this product is what is printed on the back of the label which is "WARNING This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause Birth Defects and other reproductive harm. This statement should have been in ad. I would have NEVER purchased a product like this. I will try to get a refund but I'm not sure I can.

The bottle arrived 3/4 full
Just like another reviewer, I was disappointed that the bottle it came in wasn't even full. It was a total waste of money for me, because I can't tell if it's the seller being cheap or if the bottle has previously been opened and used. I guess I'm not willing to risk being poisoned over $14 or whatever it costs, but I was very disappointed and don't even want to deal with a drawn out return process. Don't buy this.

Only received 2/3 filled bottle.
I received this item today and noticed it appeared only partially filled. Bottle was sealed and no leakage in delivery package. So I measured because I don't have a good eye for volume. But as you can see there is only 6 oz and should be 8 oz. This is already an expensive Item at 13.99 for 8 oz and then to be shorted by 30%. I won't order again and won't recommend it. I see from others reviews that I am not the only one this has happened to.

Half full
I wanted to like this and give it 5 stars, but the fact that I bought a full bottle and received half a bottle doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. Returns are not available so I apparently have no recovery. Lesson learned.

Bottle 1/2 empty pricey for less than a cup!
I agree with others in that the bottle is definitely NOT 8 ozs! I, too thought the bottle may have been opened. But it was still sealed.
