Village Green Ready to Use Wood Stain - Wood Dye - 28 Colours - Super High Pigment Content Water Based (500ml, Gunpowder)

Having read the reviews on this product I was pretty excited to try it out but I am sooooooo disappointed with the results.My first issues was that it was dark, much darker than the picture, but I thought it might soak in and dry up a little lighter.....it didn't.Secondly, every single brush stroke was visible. It didn't soak in like other stains I've used, the consistency was like a very watered down paint. As it was so dark, I was reluctant to put it on too heavy as I hadn't wanted it so dark, however I tried a second layer to see if the brush marks would get covered up...they didn't.As it was so dark, once dry, I decided I'd sand it back a little, hoping that the stain would have soaked in and sanding it would take away the brush strokes and lighten the colour....I was wrong; it came off instantly and was like powder! Again, giving a very paint like feeling.And the final disappointment is that the pigment hadn't soaked into the wood whatsoever, just into the cracks. So now I've ended up with wood that looks absolutely filthy; where the wood was smooth, it's almost back to it's original colour (without having to put any effort into sanding it - using a fine grit sander), and where there were cracks/knots, it just looks dirty.I'm kind of lost with what to do next as it'll take a lot of effort to get it sanded back past the knots/cracks :-(I don't know if I got a dud bottle with wrong ratios of chemicals, but jeppers the end result is bad!

Was very easy to use and odourless. However the colour did not penetrate the surface of the wood so was no more effective that watered down emulsion and the colour was dark blue rather than a grey so I had to remove it.

Love this product, its very easy to use and the colour is gorgeous, it was perfect for my project

Such a good colour. Used on two pine shelves to update them. Did two coats. Dried quickly. Had to use an adhesive spray varnish on top. Used not even 1/4 of the bottle so have lots left for other projects.

Fantastic product, sanded and stained my work tops and they look like new, highly recommend this product for anyone wanting to give new life to their kitchen work tops without spending a fortune!! Thanks Guys!!

Applied the gunpowder stain with an old t-shirt to my pine table, stained really nice and even.
