If you're older, like me, you can likely remember when "sweater shavers" first appeared many years ago. They didn't work all that well and ate alkaline batteries like crazy. Well, they're back and better than ever. The Mokcao USB Rechargeable Sweater Fabric Shaver succeeds where those old guys failed. This sweater shaver made my heavily pilled Merino wool socks look brand new again.When I first saw the listing for this sweater shaver on Amazon, I was immediately reminded of the "Hello Kitty" craze from years back. It's cute. Almost sickeningly cute. But, my expensive Smart Wool socks were looking like I had run them over a cheese grater for a month straight. The pilling was truly epic. Since this shaver cost less than a single pair of socks, I figured it was worth a try if it might make my socks look a little less shameful. Besides, the description assured me that, "This little machine is NO JOKE!" So, I One-Clicked the cute little thing and waited for it to arrive.After it arrived, I unboxed it, took a few pictures for the family album, tickled it under the chin, then plugged it in to charge it overnight. When I plugged it in, the light on the top-mounted power button lit up as green. However, since there was no manual other than the instructions on the box, I wasn't sure exactly what that meant. The picture on the box showed the entire ring around the power button lit up with a more yellowish color. The light on my unit only had one LED lit up and it was green, not yellow. I figured, even if it had arrived fully charged, leaving it to charge overnight would do no harm, so I turned on a night light and put the little guy to bed... er I mean I left it charging on my work counter.Today, I grabbed a particularly badly pilled pair of socks and set about shaving them with my new little buddy. (I feel like I should name it, since it looks like a pet.) First, I tried shaving the sock while my hand was inside it. That didn't work very well. The problem was that it didn't stretch the fabric out smooth enough to get a clean shave. So after thinking for a moment about a way to shave the socks more consistently, I grabbed an old tennis ball tube-shaped container pulled the sock over it. It smoothed out to a nice easy-to-shave surface.So, I tried the shaver again and was blown away by the results. Seriously. I slid the shaver head back and forth along the length of the sock and watched the pills slowly fade into oblivion. It took several passes back and forth along the direction of the knit (lengthwise on the sock) but that part of the sock looked new when I was finished. See the photos, if you don't believe me. One of the last pictures shows what it looked like with one side shaved and the other side still pilled. Wow.After working my way around the sock, I slid the tennis ball tube further into the sock to do the next section. Unfortunately, then is when I ran into the only drawback this device has. Contrary to the 60 minute run time listed on Amazon, the shaver I received only let me do about 10-15 minutes of shaving before the battery went dead. This is after letting it charge overnight. While this stunted run time is annoying, the results were worth the wait for a recharge. Besides, after you shave them initially, a small touch up every so often will keep them looking like new. So after that first long session of shaving, it should be much easier to do an item of clothing on a single charge.Which brings me to another advantage this unit has versus those old ones from our younger days. This one is rechargeable hundreds of times from any USB port or charger. Given how quickly the old shavers would eat a set of AA batteries, the inclusion of a lithium ion battery in this device will save you a heaping fortune, while keeping a ton of toxic batteries out of the landfills.The final point I'd like to make is that this shaver paid for itself by restoring a single pair of Smart Wool socks to a like-new appearance. If the shaver hadn't worked, I was planning on replacing most of my socks with new socks because of how ugly they had become. One pair of Smart Wool socks cost about twice what this shaver costs. You'd be crazy not to get the shaver and use your socks 3 or 4 times as long as you could otherwise.So, despite the short run time on a single charge, I still give this shaver 5 stars. It is rare to find something that will literally pay for itself the first time you use it. While I would trade the "cute" appearance for a longer run time in a heartbeat, I still highly recommend this shaver. It does what it claims to do and will save you a ton of money.Look at the last photo and see if you can figure out which side was shaved and which side wasn't. Yeah, I'll definitely be keeping my new shaver. I think I'll call it Mokie. That's a good boy Mokie!

I thought it would be so handy to have a rechargeable lint remover so I wouldn't need to replace batteries. The first time I charged it, which wasn't fast, I got maybe 10 minutes of use and it died. I recharged it for a couple more hours and got about another 10 minutes before it died. I put it away in frustration, intending to return it. Unfortunately, I forgot about it until yesterday, which was 1 day beyond the return window. So I plugged it in for a few hours to see if maybe I just gave up on it too soon. The yellow charge light never goes off, so I can't tell if it's charged, but when I tried to use it, I got about 3 seconds of sound before it died. It's an absolute waste of money--stick with a battery-operated version. This is garbage.

I received this Fabric Shaver as an incentive to evaluate. Like you, I rely on honest evaluations to aid me in making my purchase decisions. I am committed to providing sound comments.I tested this Fabric Shaver on microfiber bedsheets as well as several different polyester-polyester blend shirts that are commonly subject to pilling and or small material snags. In each task, the shaver performed flawlessly, removing the desired pilling and fuzz without harming the material item. The procedure was quick. The shaver contact surface is designed such that you can easily move it back and forth, in small circles, or any combination of directions to ensure the pilling or fuzz is adequately removed. I found that all traces of pilling and fuzz were removed from my clothing items. The pilling on the sheets was mostly removed. With continued effort more would have been removed, but frankly the value of time and the cost of microfiber sheets is such that the effort for me wasn't worthwhile. The extreme fineness and softness of the sheet pilling would likely challenge any device.The shaver charges easily and holds a charge well. I did not test it to battery depletion. The product refers to a 60 minute standard and I have no reason to doubt that. After approx 15 minutes of use, the product motor sounded strong and I could not detect any weakening of the battery.I included a picture above at the bottom of the device fully disassembled. There is a cap that covers the face of the shaver when not in use. A small white ring next can be removed by gently turning it counter-clockwise. This exposes a chamber which can be cleared of shaved fibers. The round disk which covers the three cutting blade housing also can be removed by turning it counter-clockwise. This provides full access to all areas where shaved material will accumulate so that you can full clean the shaver.The other pictures are of the shaver from the side and from the front with the white protection cover removed. User instructions are included on the box.If you have need of an easy, effective means to remove pilling or fuzz from personal items, I would recommend this Sweater Fabric Shaver as a sound solution. As more and more clothing items move back to polyester or other synthetic material blends, this will help you keep your clothing items looking newer longer. And you won't feel like a human fuzzball : )

Using this methodically and cleaning out the lint frequently, renewed my sweaters. It took about 15 minutes each sweater as I frequently cleaned the blades and pivot pole. I suspect the complaints about this product are due to people not cleaning it frequently. The pivot pole can get bound up and will stress the mechanism which is not particularly high quality. If your sweater is very pilled, probably best to go over with a brush to remove some of the pills, first.

This product is amazing. It does what it was advertised, I was able to easily remove the "Fuzz Pill Bobbles" from my hoodie! It was a very quick thing to do, would recommend.

This little device is more effective than I expected. I used it on a car seat to get rid of the fuzz from wear and tear, and it removed all of it!

It was already charged when I got it & worked beautifully. I had a lot of pills & fuzz on some of my pants & this quickly got rid of them. It was a little hard to clean. But I still have yet to charge it again.
