SL-600W Numbered Key Storage Combination Lock Box, Blue

I bought two of these to use for Geocache containers as part of a “puzzle Geocache” that would be stolen if not locked up. So far one of these boxes has survived for *3 YEARS*, locked to a chain, laying on the ground, in downtown Chicago, being buried in snow over and over, being completely encased in ice at least once, kicked, beat on, stomped on, messed with by kids, etc. It still works!!!It has needed lubrication multiple times and the numbers bind up a little bit, but this is a $13 lock, not a $35 lock.You get what you pay for and this is worth what you pay! No, it is not water resistant at all. Yea you need to know basic math to use it. Yea it’s not a perfect perpetual machine.

I recently needed to purchase three lock boxes, and relied strongly on the reviews to make my selection. I am very happy to have chosen this one.Using the instructions provided, I found it very easy to determine the shackle combination from which the compartment door combination is automatically set. I started by writing my desired door combo on the instruction sheet beneath the decoder chart, which then made it easy to derive the shackle combination. Then I followed the instructions to set the shackle combo, et voila! the door combo was automatically set for me! It took about three minutes.The key compartment is a cylinder sized for about five keys. You will need to look elsewhere for one that can hold a key card. The compartment has a little post in it that begs to act as an anchor for a short keychain to encourage the user to return the key to the compartment. However, the gap between the post and the wall does not allow you to use beaded chain for this purpose, although we rigged a way to make it work anyway by using a twist tie and a small split ring to attach the beaded chain. The manufacturer does not suggest using the post for this purpose, so I would call it a bonus feature outside of their specs.I do not yet have any feedback on durability over time, but can say that the fit and finish appear to be high quality. I will be interested to see how it handles freezing rain, etc. over time. The shackle is protected with vinyl, and the reverse has a little plastic pad to prevent it from marring your door. I can't tell whether moisture will be able to invade the lock mechanism or key compartment.In closing, I recommend that you try this lockbox so long as you don't need one with a large compartment. If you look at the photo you can gauge its size relative to the size of a typical key.

Are you looking to make your life more complicated? This is the lock for you. Not only do you have to use two different codes to operate this lock, but the combination mechanism itself is temperamental and has to be finessed in order for it to even work. If the numbers aren't lined up perfectly, it won't open. If you move them at all while trying to close it back up, it won't shut. I get nothing but complaints from Realtors trying to use this box. Then, the little notch on the side you have to rotate to switch to the shackle combination is equally temperamental and the soft metal flakes off easily. Before you know it, the slit is now the size of the entire notch and you can't turn it anymore to open the shackle, rendering the lock box totally worthless.Get the master lock combination locks where you just move the lever once the key box is open to open the shackle. They're much better, plus no conversion chart. Honestly, who needs to mess with converting anything?Also, it is not waterproof and once it gets wet and rusty, the fun really begins. Nothing like having to run out to your listings because the showing agents can't get in. What a waste of time.

We've used these for years- only issue is there are 2 models- one has key access by lifting top cover and other has access by sliding up the right side. DO NOT ORDER THE TOP COVER MODEL - a single key will slip between the cover and the base at the bottom where it hinges, and if you snap it closed, you will NOT be able to reopen- it jams cover. The side door model is the only one to use! Just FYI...

Excelente. Lo uso para dejar mis llaves en la oficina, así no tengo que estar cargandolas. Funcuina muy bien. Es muy práctico.

This is a nice lockbox with reasonable price. It worked well and manual is easy to understand. I could setup combination just by following instruction. I'll recommend this to my friends and family. But shipping was not good, it was delivered three days later than estimated by Amazon.
