Another Caldecott Contender?
Philip Stead strikes gold again with this beautifully written and illustrated book that kids will fall in love with. The story follows a boy named Sebastian as he strikes out alone on a big adventure in his homemade balloon. He meets friends along the way and finds a lot of excitement that will dazzle your children. The illustrations are simple and beautiful with plenty of hidden gems on each page for kids to search for and point out. I think you'll love this book and I predict the Caldecott committee may as well!

Baby Sebastian
Ordered this book for a newborn by the name of Sebastian. Story was adorable and pictures were cute and very colorful. I know this book will have special meaning to both baby and Mom for many years to come.

Excellent. A must own story.
We've read 1,000s of books. This is one of our all time faves. (There are more great books by this author including A Home For Bird.) My daughter loved the story by age 2, even more by age 3.

Cute story!
Use as part of an art lesson for third grade. They love the story being read to them as they create their own patchwork balloon!
