He chewed chicle, a dried sap from a tree, to calm his nerves. Somehow, the trend took off. Simply Gum uses real chicle. You may know Chicle as the ingredient that gives Chiclets brand gum their name.Real ingredients - The ingredient list doesn't have any weird chemical names or trade secrets. The ingredients are always a chicle base with natural flavors such as spearmint and a little sugar. That's all.Really good - So far I've had the maple and coffee flavors. Coffee flavor really does taste like fresh coffee, although the maple flavor really tastes more like brown sugar to me. Both are delicious. Flavors last a good time. I define a lasting flavor as anything longer than about 30 seconds. This gum holds up fine. Past that point you're chewing it to work your jaw, so flavor doesn't really matter.Real chew - Chicle has a great bite, which is unrivaled by any modern formulation in my opinion. The only problem with chicle is that it can "stick" ever so slightly to the teeth, which means it can be a nightmare for anyone with certain dental appliances. Definitely try a pack before you buy in if you ever have problems with things sticking to your teeth. But for pure chewing pleasure, chicle rules.Real packaging. The gum comes in a printed cardboard box. That's all. No foil wrappers, no plastic strips. It's just recyclable cardboard. There are also wax papers included. These are less common for Americans so you should know they're a polite way to dispose of used gum so you don't have to touch it. It's a nice thing to include.The catch? Simply Gum is expensive. I think they're 100% worth it. I keep swallowing my gun so far, which I always do when I love the flavor of gum. I keep thinking it's candy and want to reach for another piece.What about sugar? Won't it rot your teeth? Some people complain about sugar in gum. This is only a problem if you (like me) are prone to swallowing deliciously flavored gum like candy. The point of chewing gum for dental health is three-fold. One, you work your jaw muscles to promote proper function. Two, you can dislodge food particles hiding between your teeth. Three, you scrub off some of the sugars and bacteria which can hide on teeth and turn into plaque. Chewing gum with natural sugar still does all of this. So long as you chew it about 30 seconds longer than the point when it loses its sugary flavor, you're not really leaving any residue. Your saliva breaks down the sugars, the gum massages any remnants off your teeth, and you swallow the evidence. Just chew your gum completely, and enjoy that lovely chicle bite.

I have chewed the peppermint flavor of this gum before. I am so impressed and pleased with all the flavors in this box. The coffee flavor is amazing. This gum has low sugar content. Easy to chew. The longevity of the flavor is not as long as most store bought gums but I am okay with that due to the fact this gum has better ingredients. Will buy again.

Major pro: it's the first gum I have had in over 5 years that does not cause GI issues for me, which is amazing!Additional pros: several of the flavors are actually pretty good. I liked bubble gum and Boost the most. You get quite a few pieces in each box. Easy to open each box.Cons: look, smell, feel and are packaged like animal food pellets. The large box the assortment came in was broken so all the smaller boxes fell all over the place. Loses flavor within a few minutes. Loses chewability within about 30 minutes for me.

I am going to break this review down into 3 parts because even though I am giving it a 3-star review, I don't want it to deter consumers from purchasing a healthier gum.1. Taste (4/5)I really enjoy the flavors of the gum. You can tell that it is made with natural ingredients because it doesn't give the artificial taste that almost every other gum brand does. I like the variety of flavors and the fennel was my favorite. The maple could use a bit more flavor as it mostly tasted flavorless. I appreciate the atypical flavors, as I normally am attracted to more natural, atypical flavors! This left me wanting to see if there are other flavors this brand makes - I would like to try them, too.2. Longevity (1/5)This is where I had my biggest issue with the gum. The flavor usually goes away in 5-10 minutes after chewing. I am an avid gum chewer and this is really disappointing for me. I would end up spitting gum out quickly and chewing fresh pieces more often than I normally would. This caused me to run through gum more quickly - another drawback.3. Ingredients (5/5)This is what attracted me to this brand and why I will continue to buy their gum. The ingredients are simple, with the first ingredient being organic. This is very important to me as most gum contains artificial ingredients and sweeteners. This gum is totally natural!

I am allergic to all sugar substitutes so had given up chewing gum. All other gums without artificial sweeteners lost their flavor within minutes of chewing and also stuck to my dental work. Finding this gum has brought back a simple pleasure! The flavors remain a long time and are very refreshing. I enjoy having a piece of gum after eating and going on to shop or visit without being able to brush my teeth, and without worrying about offensive breath. The grapefruit/cayenne flavor is wonderful and the peppermint and spearmint are also! I also appreciate the box the gum is contained in , as well as the disposable paper included in the box for the gum disposal! Each piece of gum is the perfect size to discretely chew. I LOVE this product!

I had the coffee flavour and it's lush, even after a good hour or more.What I have found is that after about 1/2 hour or so, it starts dissolving, so after about 1 1/2 hours, although it tastes great, it's almost gone!

So basically these are the best chewing gum I have ever had in my life. (65 years). Now these are maybe not for everyone, it depends on how brutalised your pallet is. The flavours are quite subtle, but for me pretty amazing and, they seem to last longer than regular gum. The texture is strange, hard to describe, but getting to like it. Only had them for a few days so still really trying them out but so far utterly sublime.
