The Best Coast: A Road Trip Atlas: Illustrated Adventures along the West Coast's Historic Highways

I really like the style of this travel guide. It’s wry readable and feels like someone you know is telling you about their trip. There is practical stuff but also just ideas for nice things to see that are maybe less obvious. We are planning a trip for two years time and this book is my favourite of the west coast books we have bought. No photos, but nice illustrations and ultimately you can find pics on Google…! This feels more personal and less ‘cool’ for the sake of it. I’m looking at you Lonely Planet Guide.

I had a lot of fun reading this because every page has fun and interesting illustrations. And her writing is casual and super easy to read and helpful for someone like me who is planning the road trip. It is the experience that I've realized I am missing from looking at all those Instagram, YouTube or any other online contents through the 6" display in my phone. Kids love it, too.

I bought for my husband to relect on a past trip we went on together. I love this book so much I purchased a second for my parents as they plan a roadtrip along the west coast. Its so cute and informative. I also love the authors other book "on island time". Was really heartbroken to hear the author passed away, but hope to treasure both books forever.

Not a lot of good content. Too simplistic. More a drawings book than any sort of a guide.

The artwork is so great, I love the story along the way...the destinations are exactly where we want to go...and how to get there, basically.I'm buying 2 more today to share with friends that need this positive quirky book in their life, LIKE YOU DO TOO!!

I heard Rick Steves interview Chandler, long after her death. Her description of the west coast was so much fun. I had to buy the book.Her illustrations are just incredible. I love the book and look forward to a time when I will take one, or both of the routes. I am hoping to do it in my Tesla.Enjoy this wonderfully illustrated and narrated book.
