This review is probably going to be laughed at, but I don't care.
I love all the transformers movies, just because they're entertaining. I know they're not critically acclaimed for the acting or the heart-wrenching story like say a Terms of Endearment, but they're not supposed to be. They're action, they're visually spectacular, and very fun! It's escapism at it's best. Watching these movies with a nice surround system is a must. The explosions, the sounds of the transforming, all of it is a much better experience with surround and a good subwoofer! I can do without 2 things in the movies...the eye candy that is the chicks in short shorts! To me, it just doesn't add to the movie. I guess because I'm not a adolescent teenage boy. Secondly, is the language. it seems like all sequels, things are pushed further each time another one is made. There was more profanity in this one than the others. It too doesn't add to the movie. My 4 year old son loves Transformers, too and I don't want him picking up the language. I know one day he will be exposed to it, but c'mon! These movies are enjoyed by all age groups, Michael Bay, please tone down those 2 things and all will be well. Mark Wahlberg did a good job in the movie... I like his movies anyway. I didn't miss Shia LaBeouf or any of the other actors from the previous ones. Also, this one had more work done on the video side. The greens were way greener. My wife noticed that almost everyone had colored eyes, and over exaggerated at that. I didn't mind all that, but it did seem a little weird. I loved the robots! All of them were too cool...Lockdown is a bad dude! His walk, his whole demeanor...I found myself liking him. Those Dinobots were massive! I can't wait to watch it again...and for the next one, which is probably already in the works.

BOOM! BOOM! *takes Advil* BOOM!
Back in 2007 I, like most of those who went to see the first film in theaters, really enjoyed the original Transformers. I skipped out on the 2nd one two years later after hearing about the negative buzz around the film. Now I'm not one to pay too much attention to what critics say for the simple fact that I'll make up my own damn mind about a movie. But I wasn't even looking for TF2 reviews or stories and yet the negative buzz STILL made its way to me. From movie websites to podcasts, I can remember hearing and reading about how much an abomination the 2nd film was (and as the release date got closer the venom towards the movie grew and grew). When I finally got to seeing the first sequel on cable I couldn't believe the sh*t that I saw. There's just absolutely no defending that film. It's obnoxious (along w a majority of the cast), overwhelming and has some of the worst attempts at humor I've EVER seen. And no matter what anyone involved w that film says about how they were affected by the writer's strike, TF2 is the direct result of what happens when you give almost 95% control over to Michael Bay. I can bet you any amount of money that the worst jokes in this film were because of him. The guy has one of the most juvenile senses of humor I've ever seen put to film (and I have no problem w irreverent, childish, immature jokes but there IS a way to get away w it). Oh, and Shia LaBoofBoof's constant yelling and screaming doesn't help matters. TF2 was a sh*tfest. When part 3 came out I wanted to go and check it out solely for its use of 3D. While I fully expected to see another dumb movie w amazing visuals I was actually surprised at how fun the movie was. A marked improvement over the last one. By the time TF: AOE came out I had no desire to see it whatsoever. I was done w the TF movies and not even the inclusion of the Dinobots meant anything to me. But then I ended up seeing the movie recently and I gotta say: it's pretty good. At first I scratched my head at the inclusion of Mark Wahlberg in the film. Here's a guy who's had decent success carrying his own films (especially if they're released in January) and has had even better success when he's paired w other popular actors (or in the case of Ted a well liked creator of a much loved cartoon series) and now he's starring in the FOURTH film of a franchise...about fighting robots? But about 20mins into the movie I was already digging the vibe of the film (which believe it or not feels different enough at the beginning to get your hopes up high enough to think that this movie might actually be incredible) and I actually really appreciated Wahlberg being in it. His presence alone gave the movie some weight (no, he doesn't deliver an Oscar-worthy performance but he's good in it). After sitting through what felt like 9hrs (but was really close to 3), I was impressed. The movie worked for me. No, it's not a masterpiece and ultimately didn't end up being as incredible as my initial feelings led me to believe. But this is pure escapist fun. It won't work for most people (especially those who really are done w these films) but I quite enjoyed the movie. Unfortunately it still has a lot of corny Michael Bay humor but the man does know how to stage action sequences.

I love all of the transformers movies!! This was a spectacular movie! Loved the cast and story. So glad they haven’t run out of good scripts as many movies they have made. Truly a great movie!

GLORIOUSLY STUPID ( loved it! )
Transformers: age of extinction is the latest entry to the franchise being both a "reboot and a sequel". 5 years after the battle of Chicago the Transformers are being hunted to the brink of extinction, the Autobots and the Decepticons have gone into hiding. Since this is a reboot/sequel we have have a brand cast of characters, Mark Wahlberg ( Ted, The Departed ) plays our hero Cade Yeager a failing inventor struggling to pay his bills and try to send his daughter played by actress Nicola Peltz ( The Last Airbender ) to college. Now lets talk about the movie, Transformers: age of extinction is quite possibly the biggest and dumbest Transformers film since the first one. The character development is fairly well done and by the time the action starts you have a grasp of the characters and you care for them. Mark Wahlberg gives a very energetic and charming performance as the father he steals the show until Optimus shows up of course. What follows is of course a big dumb action film with incredible effects and breathtaking action set pieces and it didn't feel like a 2 hr and 45 min splosion fest i was having so much fun with the film and the audience did to. I cannot wait until pre-orders for the 3-D Blu-Ray become available. I did not see it in 3-D, because i don't want to spend that much for theater. Go see it, its a ton of fun on the big screen.UPDATE- I recently got my hands on the 3D IMAX edition of the film and its amazing the effects are still gorgeos and the expanded imax image is just incredible.
