Phenomenal water stone. Absolutely top notch. I think at last count, I have around 30 water stones, from coarse roughing stones to fine finishing stones. This one immediately jumped to the top of my favorites list. Cuts fast, makes a nice slurry, doesn't load up too bad, gives fantastic feedback and sharpening 'feel'. Now, if I want a true mirror finish on the edge, I'll go to a King 6k or 8k after this, but this stone does a wonderful job of removing the heavier scratches from a coarser stone and giving a wicked sharp edge. I use it on everything from woodworking knives to kitchen knives to straight razors.

Bang for the buck this is a quality polishing stone. I went through a couple of the old Rika wood base stones at work sharpening my Yanagiba single bevel fish knives. I just prefer the base model since that is what used many years. Same box green label red sun. Finished up my thin edge carbon chef knives same great feedback. It says this stone has no writing on it no reason to send it back.

I like every thing about this stone...I found I had to soak it about 5/8 minutes for best results..On a knife in fair condition I start with Chosera 3000 grit then this 5000 and finish with an 8000 grit..This is with "real:" Japanese knives..My hardest steel is Rockwell 62..If the knife is dull I start with a Chosera 800 and do as above..Shipping was prompt and delivered as estimated..Three days from order to delivery from Ca; to Wa. state..Very please with my purchase..Bob

Cuts well, good feedback nice polish but not a mirror finish. 10 minutes soak time and I’m doing the weekly maintenance. It is not hard and it doesn’t wear fast, a nice cross between the two, it just feels good and puts a nice edge on my Henkels Four Stars.

For many uses 5000 will be as high as you'll ever go, and this stone will take you there.I've been restoring a batch of old knives, and it is amazing to see what you can do once you get to this level.

received my whetstone, but the smaller stone that came with is came cracked... can i get a replacement

Overall I really like this product the stone is really good quality and the price is is great! The base isn’t the best though. Only because it gets water stuck inside and it’s hard to get it all out after use to dry it. Not a deal breaker though at all. I still like this stone. Maybe better to get the same one without the base though if you have something to use under it.

Nice performing stone good feedback.Leaves a nice hazy finish. Which i prefer over a high polished finish.

Just a great stone and a pleasure to use. Not crazy about the plastic base which keeps one from accessing the second face, but that doesn't change the fact the stone is just that good.Demand quality people!Let the cheap knockoff junk rot in slosiaoict hell everywhere.
