I purchased these boots in November for walking my dog in the woods it's a 10 min walk on the pavement there and back once in the woods it all soft ground. I returned the boots after 3 months because the sole wore out the raised tread is actually hollow and not a solid rubber tread being a bit of an anarack worked out using Google maps that I have walked a total of 350 mile and around 50 miles was on tarmack these are hiking boots and should be good for a 1000 miles at least . No issues with leaking no replacement laces looked like new when they went back apart from holes in the soles , hi- tec did not want to know when I emailed them about the defective boots. These are comfortable out of the box, no need to break in.I have back issues and only buy shoes with some ortho reference in the insole. I came across Hi Tec shoes by accident and find them light, excellent support and stylish.I ordered these on Amazon as the price was excellent for this type of product.On first wear I found these super comfortable, I went for a 10k walk....and could have walked all day.I think these would be an excellent choice for a city break, where you intend to do lots of sight seeing and want to be prepared for the weather.These shoes are warm and definitely waterproof ( as I have tested- wet grass, small streams).The soles have good grip and time will tell how they wear.I can highly recommend these as the Price/Quality ratio is very high.
