Custom Accessories 92520 Clear License Plate Protector

It's clear, sturdy, no cracks (so far) and reasonably priced. $6 vs 14-20$. Took about 10 days for DHL delivery thru the mail (?) But I'm glad it finally came. The car washes keep pulling off my front plate, bending it & broke a cheaper plastic name plate. (The kind the dealer puts on your car when you first buy it). I recommend this cover. Will update after 90 days...

I do not own a vanity plate. I bought this to secure my license plate and especially the extra yearly registration license plate sticker they use in Pennsylvania, which often gets stolen by cutting the corner of the plate [because if you do not keep up your car insurance you do not get a new sticker]. This is actually a replacement for an identical cover which I had bought more than ten years ago {IIRC 1993}. It had gotten a little cloudy and scratched but was still clear enough to be legal. The real reason I just bought this replacement is that the old one had gotten slightly broken around one of the four bolt recesses by someone attempting [un-successfully!] to steal my plate. I also highly recommend the Cruiser #81230 [domestic cars] locking screw-bolts [they use hex key screws with a pin in the center of the hole so a regular hex key wrench can not remove them]. My car only has two holes for attaching the license plate to the car so I used two regular hex key bolts in the other two holes with nuts to fasten the cover to the plate while the two other holes are used to fasten the plate and cover to my car. I have to think about drilling the other two holes into the car because I don't think the thief would have been able to break the cover with all four corners bolted to the car. This cover is much heavier [thicker] than most others I have seen [except the identical Superior 25-5311 plate cover which is only slightly higher price, my original was from Superior, the main differences are the new one does not have the company name molded into the border and does not come in colors - which are illegal in some states, and my old Superior cover had been made in the USA, I do not know if that is still true].

If not for scratches and rough spots on the plastic, I would have given 5 stars.

Bought a pair of these for use in Florida. Provide good looking CLEAR protection for plates... BUT: A bit fragile... a stone dropped from a dump truck while traveling on highway resulted in a clean punch-through at front, getting to decorative plate mounted there. The bubble shape means that there is less backing to the cover. Considering cost, chalked this one up as a learning experience, and ordered a flat plate cover for front, keeping bubble shape for rear. Assuming that these are legal where you live:Pros:1) Nice appearance2) Protection for plate, with exception noted aboveCons:1) A bit over-sized in outside dimensions - I can see some license plate holders on vehicles not able to take this.2) Bubble shape is decorative but not as strong as flat style - more room for cover to deform [and break] under impact

This item was exactly what I was looking for. The only problem I had was that it cracked while it was being installed. That was probably the installer's fault,, but it cracked very quickly and easily. Other than that it's perfect and the crack doesn't show. I'd buy another one if I ever need one.

This is a nice protector and it holds my plate nicely. But I thought I could still put my frame around the protector, uh no it doesn't fit so I have no frame but a nice protector around my plate. At first I thought it was ugly, but I noticed many cars don't have frames and then I just got over it. The point was I wanted my sticker to be protected, and it is.

It would be 5 stars with a bit more FLEX in the Plastic... The local stores do not carry CLEAR in smaller cities like mine. I miss the 70's and 80's custom car parts in all the Hot Rodding Stores. Now all commercialized and only what makes the most money. Now parts like this are only ONLINE! I recommend this product to keep the stones and bugs off your custom plates.

just what i was looking for, will be back in the future....very heavy duty acrylic and large enough size to put the license plate inside of it to protect it.......quick response and shipping.
