Such an incredible set! The box/packaging is gorgeous and the blu-ray contents/special features make it well worth the purchase.

I love and always have loved Hollow Man! It's an in your face representation of what most people would become given the "gift" of being invisible. Like it or not, that's a fact. I think that's the main reason people don't like this film. It's not a masterpiece but it's a solid story with a good three act structure and a decent time spent on character development. But it's the fact that, given this ability, one would take advantage in many different ways. I love Sebastian's slow realisation that he's screwed and his brilliant mind shows him how he can capitalise on his predicament. The lab becomes his proving ground, testing his power in unspeakable ways ranging from the boyish panks to outright murder! Even supposed allies are not immune!Paul Verhoeven is one of my all time favourite director's. Ever since I saw Flesh + Blood on a censored VHS, I was hooked! He has an amazing visual style which, sometimes, overwhelms productions but I think Hollow Man is his most straight forward film. Coming off the back of the amazing Starship Troopers, I think he wanted to slow down a little bit. It may sound odd seeing how crazy this film is but it's a much more basic film than Starship Troopers or any other of his American films.The cast is awesome, Kevin Bacon, as always, is a master of the switch. One minute he's your best friend. The next he's a monster and your worst enemy. Even just using glances you can read him. When he's not even there you get the sense you've angered him!Elizabeth Shue is the other lead. Her strut when she's rebuking Sebastian is so confident that she strips him of all his power and it is she who knocks his confidence down so much that she becomes his most prized target. I've always liked Elizabeth Shue's acting. She has a strength when she delivers lines that most actors don't.Then we have Thanos himself! Mr. Josh Brolin! I've always admired this dude, strong and dedicated to his craft. Here he is the romantic foil to Sebastian, being a better fit with Linda than him and boy, he hates that! As a side note, I wish he and Spike Lee could have seen their vision of Oldboy realised, it sounded like it would have been an even more bonkers version of the classic original!Kim Dickens I've admired for a while as well. This the first role I saw her in and she made an impression as a counter point to Sebastian. Coming at him like the protector against his destroyer.Once again I must say, as a structured film with an interesting story, fully hammed up performances, spot on direction by a master of his craft, amazing visual effects (for it's time) there really is no reason to give it less than a solid 3/5. The only reason people rate it lower is because they are scared of what it says about human nature.Had to edit this because I forgot to say the only thing I wasn't happy with! The first disc, with the director's cut, is an exact replication of the original Sony disc from 2007! Just new disc art. So obviously no new transfer. The theatrical cut transfer seems, with limited testing, to be exactly the same. Only shorter, obviously. The booklet is pretty nice though. I must try my hardest to watch Hollow Man 2.....

I’ve already had this a few times on DVD but I never got around to the old Blu-Ray release. However this new release should pretty much satisfy any fan of the film.The film has always been a trashy Friday night favourite of mine, as Kevin Bacon plays Sebastian, a scientist working on a project funded by the military to develop a way to make humans invisible and visible again. But doing so will inevitably lead to a fair amount of carnage before end credits roll. It’s worth noting the film looks pretty good on Blu-ray, and the visual effects, which were cutting edge in 2000, have largely held up well.This set provides three discs with two versions of the film plus the 2006 direct to video sequel plus bonus material. The first disc’s theatrical cut has a few extras including commentary, a couple of interviews and featurettes plus a trailer. The second disc has the Directors cut, running 7 minutes longer, but not really adding anything substantial (mostly scene extensions). It has a whole bunch of featurettes and behind the scenes stuff. The final disc has the sequel (which I’d never seen before - it’s OK, but I’m also unlikely to revisit it myself) and the fold out cardboard packaging includes a booklet with interviews and essay notes on the film and it’s production.It’s probably the most thorough release there’s ever likely to be for the film, and for me it was worth the money to upgrade.

Der 1.Teil ist eine absolut tolle Geschichte,gespickt mit fantastischen Spezial-Effekte.In der Hauptrolle: "Kevin Bacon".der wirklich super spielt.Sehr glaubwürdig und überzeugend.Nun der 2.Teil ist von der Story her,nicht so fantasievoll gespielt,wie der 1.Teil,doch ich finde es ist Geschmacksache.Ich finde,wie der ganze Film aufgebaut ist,mit seinen irren Spezial-Effekte vom Mensch zum Unsichtbaren,das hat 5 Sterne verdient.Und so schlecht,wie hier über den 2.Teil hergezogen wird,ist er bestimmt nicht.Hand drauf!Hollow Man - Unsichtbare Gefahr / Hollow Man II (Collector's Edition, 2 DVDs)

Also der 1. Teil von Hollow Man ist ein wirklich gelungener Thriller, der mit dem Traum der Unsichtbarkeit spielt. Die Charaktere sind glaubhaft und gut besetzt, auch wenn man um einige Klischees (die Ex-Frau fängt was mit dem Kollegen an) nicht herum kam, ist der Film auf jeden Fall gelungen.Der 2. Teil ist ein typischer Aufguß der das Prädikat "unnötig" verdient hat. Es gibt zwar ein paar gute Ideen, aber alles in allem wirkt der 2. Teil sehr unausgegoren.Der erste Teil für sich hätte fast 5 Sterne verdient, der 2. allerhöchtens 2 bis 3
