Great Book for young children
I used this book with our 4 and 5 year old church school children and they then planted Lily bulbs to take home and watch them grow. The children loved the story and it was overall a big hit.

Simple story of girl disappointed by gift connects deeply to the Christian meaning of Easter
Higgs tells a simple, and completely relatable, story of a girl who is disappointed in a gift she has received. What child can't identify with that? On the bottom of most pages, though, Higgs also includes a Bible verse, written in smaller font... The story can easily be read without these for younger listeners, but for children with longer attention spans, these serve as wonderful connection points to the meaning of the Christian Easter holiday.

Not What I Was Expecting
The story is not what I was expecting, so I was a little disappointed. I would like to make having an Easter lily in our home a tradition for the holiday, and to accompany it, I was hoping for a story to better explanation of WHY we call these lilies "Easter" lilies. The same story could have been told of any type of spring flower and is rather unoriginal in the sense of drawing the parallel between a seed that seems dead being buried and then something comes up that is alive. I suppose I should have realized since this is called The PARABLE of the Lily, rather than something like The LEGEND of the Easter Lily or the like, where it would have explained how the lily symbolically relates to Easter with the themes of repentance, purity, beauty, and the story of the tears of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane springing up as lilies the next day.

My favorite author kids and grown ups
Liz Curtis Higgs is one of my favorite authors as an adult Christian book author. So I started getting her kids books after a friend of my recommended them. I think every one of the kids books has made me cry. There is so much depth and truth to these simple stories. The books are loaded with scriptures and make great week study books to go over prior to a holiday. The art work is delightful and colorful. Good sturdy board books are great for toddlers little hands.

Sweet book about Easter
Just like her other books in the Parable Series, this is a sweet book (with scripture "embedded") that can lead to wonderful conversations with your children.

Really Like this book
I bought this book for my 2.5 year old daughter to introduce her to Easter in the Christian sense. No, this book is does not explicitly follow the Easter story... however at 2.5 my daughter doesn't really understand it. This book gives the overarching lessons to be learned from the Easter story and that is perfect. Yes, it might be a little long for a 2.5 year old, but my daughter has a good attention span and really likes reading so she makes it through the whole book most of the time. I am very pleased with this purchase!
