Great bass
Awesome bass. Needed to get the tension adjusted on the truss rod and string adjusted. After that, really nice

Great 500 Dollar Bass
This is a great bass for the price, and has become my 'go-to' for the rock band i'm currently playing with rather than my Ibanez SR505 (I wanted to use a 4-string rather than my 5, and the only 4-string I had was garbage.) Interested in the Spector sound, I went ahead and ordered this one perhaps somewhat impulsively..no shops in my area carry Spector, and I figured since it was Amazon...I'd ship it back if I didn't like it.First thing though, the Korean strings that came on it were AWFUL. If I'd tried it in a store, I never would've bought it. At first, I thought the instrument had bad tone...but I was suspicious of the strings because of how they looked and felt, and so I went ahead and replaced them and was stunned at the sound with good strings. I have Ernie Ball 105-85-65-45 on it, and it sounds great through my Markbass Tube800 4x10/1x15 stack.I had to tighten a couple of the screws on the pickups, and adjust the height of one string..but other than that, it was good to go.My only complaint really is having to unscrew the entire back panel to get to the battery, rather than there being a convenient little battery cover...Other than that, the only thing I'd probably rather have differently is a single volume & pick-up blend rather than 2 volume knobs...but that's how Spectors are made, and I could probably mod it the way I want if it bothers me enough. There's a lot of junk hanging on the racks of the music shops today that cost a lot more than this, and if you're in the 500 dollar price range and looking for a modern P-bass growl, this one will do the job.I gave 4 stars rather than 5, because the jazz pickup on this bass alone is terribly weak and worthless by itself...it does blend well into the p-bass pickup and can smooth things out a bit...but it also has some dynamic issues mid-volume (mid-blend), and so is really only any good to me either all the way up or all the way down. All in all though: good tone, fast neck, string spacing and weight. Definitely worth the price.

I too purchased this bass on a whim from Musicians Friend based on the excellent YouTube Korean review
Many thanks to reviewer Chris for his enlightenment on the strings. I too purchased this bass on a whim from Musicians Friend based on the excellent YouTube Korean review. First off, I simply love Spector basses but couldn't afford their high end lines. I've always wanted a P/J configured bass and when this one came along, I jumped at the chance to purchase it. It didn't sound quite as good as it's sister, the Spectorcore, which I also own, so I often wound up putting it aside. When I read what this reviewer revealed about the strings, I immediately swapped them for a set of GHS boomers and WOW, what a difference it made! It transformed into a totally different instrument and now does not stay very long on my stand. I can't say that I completely agree with Chris' opinion on the J pick up but I am now VERY happy overall with this outstanding bass.
