ACTIVA Permastone Casting Compound - 28 Ounces, Bisque White

Used this for a Christmas gift -- created a "brick" and placed a gift card in the middle for my bro-in-law. Set up very well and fast! Just a tip to let it dry a long time prior to use -- It took longer to fully dry than anticipated!

I am amazed at how beautiful the castings are I get from this casting material!!!! I used it in a silicon mold that I lightly covered with baby oil… I mean very lightly… as in, two small drops on a paper towel over the tip of my finger… then rubbed into the mold… afterwards, I mixed up the permastone according to the directions of 1.5 parts permastone to 1 part water…. Mixed thoroughly and t(en immediately poured into the mold… this stuff starts to set up FAST…. There is no time to dilly dally around… after pouring, I tapped the mold to release any potential air bubbles and let it sit for 2 hours… after I gently removed the mold, I was blown away at the quality of this cast! The surface of the cast is silky smooth… it feels like marble to me… I will wait until tomorrow to paint the casting… at which time, I will return to this review and update how it has done with painting it… so far, this casting material is a 10 star review (if we could do more than 5 stars lol)

This was perfect for what I needed it for. My son's 30th birthday smash gift. I put a gift card inside of an Altoid container, wrapped that in duct tape and then put that inside a brick mold so that my son had to chisel through it to get his gift card out.

Has no instructions or information like "how much water do you add to this stuff so you just have to experiment with it and sets up very fast so if you don't get enough water in it right away you can't add any more or it will not set no matter how long you leave it to dry out. We ruined the first 2 boxes of this before we figured out the proportions (ordered 4 total) That said , when this stuff does set up it's beautiful silky smooth , true white, and solid , not flaky or powdery like plaster of Paris and paints beautifully . We mixed paint powder into the mix and made tiny "rock" and marble swirled colored building blocks and red brick type blocks and they looked great. Not as easily broken as the plaster blocks we made. Used regular quikcrete mortar mix to make larger blocks as this is pricey for what you get and we could only find it in these small boxes.

I’ve used this product in the past and I absolutely love it! The instructions are easy to follow, it sets in 45 minutes, and is oven safe! I use it as a base for polymer clay figurines. Definitely a must have if you’re into sculpting! Safe to use with silicone molds!

I used a 1 quart pail and a pack of this stuff to hide Christmas gift cards. Poured in half, added a gift card wrapped in tape, and then added the rest. It was difficult to break open for my kids, took just long enough that they had fun and enjoyed it. The material dries fast, smooth and is more durable than I expected. Very cool.

Drys very hard. Very good product

The product is decent but it came in a bag and the box broke and power was on everytgung else in my order. After dusting everything off I ended up with 3/4 of the product. Great product but needs better packaging.

Easy to use, produces super smooth, strong molds that are easy to paint and have flawless surface.

I really like this product. It is easy to use and the results are very smooth and heavier than regular plaster of paris. I will only be using it for small pieces though because I find the price prohibitive.

All kidding aside, as advertised, this plaster dries extra hard and resistant to cracking. I recommend it for artistic endeavors!

I use some of this product with lower-priced but weaker plaster of paris to make dental castings. My proportions strengthen the castings to "only as strong" as I need, but hardness unattainable with the plaster of paris alone. The details are near perfect!Very useful Product!

It's tough, but will break Id you are abusive.Finishes nice, holds paint well.Recommended
