Hurricanes, Grid Failure, Civil Unrest, Camping, Emergencies, Gotta Have Some Put Away
What can I say, we live in South Florida. The reason we bought this particular one: This is actually the "meat portions" that go with their other "60-serving pail" that you probably already have in your closet at home, (but like us, maybe you didn't know those "60 Servings" were incomplete, and still needs this "Meat" bucket to complete those meals. (Go look at your bucket at home, and you'll see things like "Stroganoff, 4 Pouches, 4 Servings Each", but those are really only the dried "noodles, mushrooms, onions, sauce and other veggies"-- but no meat). This is the meat. It's the way this company packages some of their products. We have not tried this package yet, but the (many) evaluations and online reviews of this company's food, always seem to place them in the top 4 or 5 dried emergency food makers, (including the many reviews we've seen on this product), and the value of this one seems great. The 20 servings of white rice this package includes are a nice extra, and might come in handy if the two buckets became separated, (ie: can use the rice with the meat, if the noodle pack from the other bucket isn't around), or in a real emergency, if more carbs were needed. Living here in Fla for years, we supplement our emergency food storage with canned goods, and vacuum-packed stuff like nuts and cereals, so this is just part of our overall plan. At this price though, we might order more when this season's hurricanes start rolling in, soon.We live in crazy unchartered times, and bad things can happen quickly; I don't care which reputable manufacturer you buy from, you must have at least (some) quality food stowed away for emergencies, (because in an instant, you may have no electricity or gas, no air conditioning, and no refrigeration, or even ice available anywhere, potentially for weeks, or months.... And every Kroger, Safeway, Publix, Circle K, 7-11, and every restaurant or taco-stand within 100 miles, may be "bare walls, lights out, and boarded up tight", for months). We've tried a few of Wise's other foods, and most have been surprisingly decent, so we know we likely made a safe choice with this one too.

MUST READ!!
Ok, so after a whole bunch of research I learned that most of Wise Foods are vegetarian. When you look at this meat bucket you think that it will be for a "meat only" meal. Totally not the case, and I do wish they made that clearer.THIS MEAT BUCKET IS MEANT TO BE PURCHASED IN CONJUNCTION WITH ONE OF THEIR VEGETARIAN FOOD BUCKETS!! (Like the 84 breakfast entree Grab and Go Food Kit)You just pour in the meat packet to your vegetarian entree and add a little extra water... and shazaam! You now have a very, very, good non-vegetarian meal. I will also say that the portions when finished are excellent- Perfect for a family of four and no one is left hungry. We used this camping and everyone around was wondering how we had hot cheesy meat lasagna, beef stroganoff, and so on.To cook these camping we boiled our water with a jetboil, then dumped it into a covered cooking pot- it was simple enough for camping and much less expensive than the Mountain House packets, even when considering the extra cost of adding the meat packets. One other note that I will add, is that if you want to use this for single person use (like backpacking with a jet boil or something) You would be much better off purchasing their outdoor meals because of the "cook in the bag" simplicity of it. Those are more expensive and contain less, but who wants to carry a cooking pot backpacking?

Ready when you are
If you’re camping, on a survival trip, or planning for the next emergency this is the exactly what you need. The price is a little bit on the high side but not outrageous for the quality of food you get.

Quite delicious, but not as many meal-servings as they advertise
I love how easy these pouches are to prepare, and they are quite tasty. The instant rice included is the best instant rice I've ever had, especially if you want to follow their directions about combining a pouch & a cup of rice :). However, they advertise the bucket as 60 servings, and as several others have advised, if you try to parse out just the enclosed meals to 60 servings, you are not getting enough food to constitute a meal***unless you supplement with lots of vegetables/ fruit/ sides*** - which, admittedly, one should have balanced meals (although the meat / rice is so yummy you will probably be tempted to just eat it by itself, no judgement!) :)

A good, solid "Ah dang-it" food supply.
We prep a bit, not extreme, but want emergency food available just in case. We tried 2 of the packs just to check and were pleasantly surprised at the taste. Not a massive portion, but good calories.

Survival food.
I haven't had to use it yet, but I got it to add to the meals for meat. I'm glad I have it.
