I used to buy Lanacane, in quantity, to alleviate my chronic itching. Now I hear Lanacane has been discontinued and I can no longer get it. I've tried other creams with benzocaine, but I didn't like the texture of the cream for any of them. They are either greasy, or too thin to rub in and stay on my skin. In my search for alternatives, I came across this, and I thought it worth a try. I mixed it in the same proportions as Lanacane (20% by weight) with a thick cold cream that I liked the texture of, and viola, it works just as well. And far cheaper if you need it in quantity.

I got this to make a pain relieving lotion.I tried putting this in alcohol and it didn't dissolve. Will try putting in water phase of lotion to see if it dissolves. If not will he returning07.06.23 upgraded to 3 stats. I used DMSO and it dissolved immediately. This is a good thing since DMSO will make it absorb more readilyI'm working on a recipe for a pain relieving spray. I'll update you to let you know how it went, and if it worked for pain and for how long.

I tested it by dabbing my pinkie and rubbing it on my gum line. Very impressed with the numbing effect, not very impressed with how long it lasts. Of course, this is because my mouth is moist and I’m applying it topically to moist gums and not injecting it, but I was a little disappointed in the duration of the numbing effects. I’m sure it would be more suited to someone adding it to lotion or whatever, as many of the reviews state is their intended use.One more thing: if you’re using this to make numbing creams, etc PLEASE READ ABOUT ***METHEMOGLOBINEMIA*** and learn how much of this you can add to your lotions before mixing! In case you are wondering (as i was) whether this is genuine, this definitely is real. I immediately tested it by dipping a wet finger & applying to my gums, and it almost immediately gave the numbing effect. So, it's not a con....it's the correct item and works just as it is. However, i haven't tried dissolving it in isopropyl alcohol, etc, yet. I am hoping it will work when added to a cream for my peripheral neuropathy. Time will tell. Anyway, it's a good buy if you want some.
